to: youngmin
oh. right. okay omw

JEON WOONG had been with the dance crew for a rough year and a half, joining in the middle of the college term. he had treated it as his little getaway from classes and lectures, since dance had always been his passion since high school anyway. he'd figured, at least there'd be something he could look forward to.

he'd padded towards studio 2, his steps heavy. he didn't mind new members, in fact he enjoyed some new company. maybe it was just the lethargy that came with practicing a bit too much for the past three days, he'd thought, and settled with it, opening the door to the studio and sitting down, leaning against the wall and closing his eyes.

"you alright?" donghyun scoots next to him, nudging his elbow and handing him a coke. "not looking so good there."

woong glances at him, taking a sip of the soft drink and shaking his head reassuringly. "oh, have you heard anything about the newbie, by the way? youngmin told me you both are the same age. the others keep gossiping about how pretty she is."

woong frowns. "seems legit. our dance crew has good looking people, anyhow. is it like one of youngmin's criteria or something?" he jokes, getting a laugh from the younger male in response. "i hope we get along then."

more and more members start pouring into the studio, until woojin enters and the whole crew is seated on the hard laminated floors, waiting for the new member to come in. youngmin appears after a few silent moments, beaming brightly and greeting everyone as usual.

woong stops paying attention at this point, picking at his nails and finding his gaze averted to the floor. he'd heard footsteps and people around him welcoming the newbie warmly, accompanied by a round of applause and cheers. more or less, he'd blocked noise out (maybe even made himself go unnoticed).

he doesn't quite catch her name, but he heard her say "please take care of me well!" — and almost swore he'd heard her voice somewhere before. but it wasn't like he could be more bothered about it.

when he decides to look up in the middle of everyone else introducing themselves, woong doesn't know how to react.

there she is — looking just like how he last remembered her. jet black hair tied into a ponytail, eyes bright and lips curled up into a soft smile.

the studio was the last place woong would expect to see lee dayeon again, after two years, especially after knowing she'd moved back to daejeon somewhere back in january last year. meeting her in a situation like this put him in a rather awkward position — he doesn't quite know how to introduce himself, and thinking about it, he doesn't think he wants to do so.

he doesn't know why suddenly it's like the others seem to be going around the circle twice the speed they did before, but before he even gets to practice the script in his head, it's his turn. woong lifts his head up, meeting the girl's gaze.

he sees the flash of shock in her eyes, the way she blinks one-two times and her lips part slightly upon considering him. woong doesn't need to say anything, because her brows are furrowed, a small "jeon woong?" escaping from between her mouth.

"lee dayeon," he nods, tearing his eyes apart for a split second before looking up at the girl again. "it's been a while."

"oh, you know each other?" youngmin cuts in, and dayeon doesn't know why she's struggling to find the words to say.

woong clears his throat. "yeah, we were just friends in high school," he keeps it short and simple. "if you'll excuse me, i need to get back to choreography. nice meeting you again, dayeon."

and then the whole studio becomes silent, all their eyes watching him leave the room and shut the door behind him.

LEE DAYEON thought about things.

things that she should have thought about earlier, before she stepped into dream team's studio, before she even agreed to joining the damn crew in the first place. she'd thought about a hundred and one things, but the thought of meeting jeon woong again never once crossed her mind, what more being in the same dance crew as him.

seeing him again after two years felt foreign, like something completely alien to her. she'd forgotten what it felt like to see him, what it felt like to have her heart jump and leap at the sight of his smile. dayeon didn't know how to respond to the situation she had been faced with.

especially when she saw how much woong has changed — all the way from his platinum blonde hair which seemed to be freshly dyed, to his rather cold and emotionless tone. she couldn't hide the disappointment on her face when he left the room.

dayeon barely sees him in the first week; even if she does, it'll just be glances through the glass of the studio door. he'd be too immersed in dancing or choreographing that he does not even bother to look anywhere else except for the mirror in front of him. she doesn't know why he seemed to be more aggressive in his steps than when she last recalled.

in general, he was just cold. she'd understand it if he was that way to everyone else in the crew, but seeing him mixing around and getting along well with just about the whole lot except for her, made her feel a pang of pain. he could be smiling and laughing with the rest of them, but the moment he sees her, his face would drop and his lips would purse into a thin line. she'd figured that she's just not going to talk to him anytime soon.

she'd rather him just not say anything than be a big jerk about it, either way.

the first few sessions in dream team felt long and draggy, and it definitely didn't help that dance practices kept getting tougher. dayeon appreciated the little bursts of motivation from other members, but her mind was elsewhere. seeing woong once was enough to twist her whole head around.

"dayeon? are you okay?" youngmin is pulling her aside after practice is over. "you just looked out of it today. is there anything bothering you? anyone you can't get along with?"

she winces. "ah, n-no, i'm okay," dayeon pushes her fringe away from her face. "it's just a new environment to me, s'all." that was a horrible lie, she grimaced. she silently hopes youngmin lets her off without another word.

"i see," he nods. "oh, well, i'll give you some time then. and, maybe you could ask woong if you need anything? at least you both already know each other, yeah?" no, god no. "take care. i'll see you next practice."
