EXT. ISOLATED FOREST - NIGHT
An isolated forest. A lonely house is seen in the distance.
CUT TO:
EXT. EMBER'S HOUSE - NIGHT
A GROUP OF SOLDIERS dressed with special equipment are seen hiding near the house.
CREED
Alright, team up ahead is the target's house. Here's the plan: first, we find a way to light the house on fire enough to scare our targets into running outside where we will be waiting for them. Did I make myself clear?
SOLDIER #1
But sir, what if...
CREED
Did I stutter?
SOLDIER #1
...no.
CREED
Now let me make something clear. Our mission is to retrieve our targets ALIVE, understood? If you morons somehow manage to mess this up, I will make sure none of you return back to base. Alright, let's move.
The soldiers sneakily move through the woods, getting closer to the house.
Soldier #4 pours gasoline all around the house quietly.
Soldier #7 lights a match and drops it in the gasoline to light up the trail and ignite the house on fire.
CREED
(whispering)
Everyone into your positions.
Soldiers strategically separate into different tactical positions around the house.
SHOUTS are heard coming from the house.
CREED
(through walkie-talkie)
Ok, now we wait.
(beat)
Everyone be on the lookout for a man and woman, they are our targets.
In the distance, a figure is seen running outside in a panic.
CREED
Jackpot, that's the team. Let's get them before they get away.
Soldiers move quickly toward the figure.
Soldier #1 uses a chloroform-soaked rag to knock the target unconscious.
SOLDIER #1
Aren't there supposed to be two targets?
CREED
Yes, everyone looks out for the last target. MAKE SURE HE DOESN'T GET AWAY!
A man is seen struggling, but finally exiting the burning house.
AARON
(coughing)
Honey! Ember! Where are you!
Soldier #1 tries to knock out Ember's father.
Aaron fights back and manages to knock out Soldier #1.
AARON
(aggressively)
WHERE IS MY FAMILY? WHAT DID YOU DO TO THEM?
CREED
I'll take this one, team.
Creed tries using his overwhelming strength to pin down Aaron.
Aaron dodges and pushes Creed into the burning house.
A piece of wood falls on CREED, burning a part of his torso and arm.
CREED
(in pain)
AHH! DANG IT!
Creed makes his way out of the house.
CREED
I didn't think I'd have to use this.
Creed shoots Aaron with a tranquilizer, knocking him unconscious.
A young girl is seen running in the distance.
SOLDIER #3
Boss, what about the girl?
CREED
Let her go, we'll come back later for her.
CUT TO:
INT. A.C.O.R.D FACILITY - NIGHT
Both Aaron and Christine can be seen being experimented on.
CREED
So, what's going on here, doctor?
DOCTOR
Well, we are trying to figure out the source of these powers and how they work. Maybe with that information, we can finally get some progress.
CREED
What do you have so far?
DOCTOR
Not much to be honest. I think I'm going to really step it up a notch here. I really want to see how they react to pain.
The doctor turns on a machine.
Aaron and Christine scream in anguish.
DOCTOR
No, no, no! I'm losing them!
CLOSE ON:
Cardiac monitor, seen slowly reaching the flatline.
BEEP, BEEP, BEEP, BEEEEEEE...
