Chapter 27 ♔

I took a deep breath and prepared myself to see Daniel and Kelly again, probably having fun together like before. 

I shook my head in denial.

You have to be brave Y/N! He's your fiancé after all! Have some faith in him.

That's right, all I need to do is talk to him. Then maybe he'll change his habits.

I walked towards the front door and took another deep breath before opening the door. As I peeked outside, Daniel and Kelly were nowhere to be seen.

Huh...that's weird. Where did they go now?

I saw Woojin walk up behind me, "Sorry noona I forgot to tell you. Daniel hyung got a call from his dad and had to leave. Looks like Kelly went home on her own too."

I sighed in disappointment, "Oh I see...thanks Woojin. Wait, but how am I supposed to get home? I came here with Daniel but now he's gone."

Daehwi walked up to us, "I just got a text from Daniel hyung. He apologized for leaving so suddenly and asked me to drop you home."

I looked at him, "Ah really? Would that be okay? I don't want to cause too much trouble."

He smiled, "No it's no trouble at all! I was actually about to leave anyways to drop Jinyoung off. Besides, your house is nearby ours so it's actually very convenient."

I smiled, "Alright then. Thanks Daehwi."

After saying our goodbyes to Somi and the others, the three of us walked towards Daehwi's car.

I sat in the backseat while Daehwi settled in the driver's seat. Jinyoung was about to get into the passenger seat beside Daehwi but stopped as he saw something already taking up the space.

"Meow~" Daehwi's cat purred from the passenger seat.

"Ugh what the hell. Daehwi move your damn cat," Jinyoung ordered.

"Yah! Don't be mean to Mr. Cocopuffs!" Daehwi pouted.

Jinyoung snickered, "Mr. Cocopuffs?! What kind of weird ass name is that? Anyways move your cat to the back. I'm sitting in the front."

Daehwi rolled his eyes and tried to pick up his cat, but it screeched in protest and started clawing his fingers.

Daehwi sighed in defeat, "I'm sorry Jinyoung but you're gonna have to sit in the back. This is Mr. Cocopuff's spot and he's not gonna move."

Jinyoung scoffed and moved towards the backseat to take a seat beside me. As soon as he came in, he gave me the nastiest glare, causing me to shift away from him as much as possible.

"Alright ready to go?" Daehwi asked. We nodded and Mr. Cocopuffs happily purred. 

The car ride was extremely silent, with not a word being exchanged between any of us. I felt a bit awkward and stiff but tried to keep myself busy by looking out the window.

Eventually, Daehwi started a conversation to brighten up the mood, "So Y/N, how are you enjoying LA so far?"

"It's been pretty fun. Though a lot of crazy things have happened since I came here, I've always had Daniel and Jihoon by my side to help me along the way."

Daehwi smiled, "That's great! Speaking of Daniel, how is he? Has he been treating you well?"

I nodded, "Yeah he's grea-"

"He probably treats her like shit. Watch them break off the engagement a day before marriage." Jinyoung mocked.

"Yah! Jinyoung! First of all, that's extremely rude and uncalled for! Second of all, you need to stop interrupting people when they're talking. Am I clear?" Daehwi scolded.

Jinyoung rolled his eyes and rested his head on the window, "Yeah yeah whatever."

Daehwi let out a nervous chuckle, "Again, I'm really sorry about him noona. He didn't mean it. Anyway, I hope your engagement turns out really well and you have an amazing time here."

I shook my head, "Oh no don't worry about it. And thanks Daehwi, I really appreciate it~"

After Daehwi dropped me home, I took a warm bath and settled on my bed. The bright moonlight from the window was shining down on me.

I reflected on all the crazy things that happened today. But more than anything, Jinyoung's harsh words echoed in my mind.

At that time, I found him extremely rude. 

Little did I know, there was an undeniable truth in his words.
