I look across the chasm, watching as the beast falls. Numerous crashes reverberate through the forest as the creature takes trees down with it.
"You did it! Thank the gods!" I can see their grin from here. "Hurry up and get back over here, we need to celebrate!"
I watch as they run across the old unsteady bridge. It shakes with their every step.
"Be careful!" I call, fear straining my voice.
I hear a loud snap. My breath catches as I watch their joyful face grow terrified in less than an instant. I scream as I watch the boards beneath their feet snap like twigs. I shriek as I watch them fall, everything slowing down to nothing more than a crawl. I collapse to my knees, my breath swept from my chest, as I hear more rotting boards break apart from the rest of the bridge and fall. Everything goes blank the moment I hear their body hit the ground, far below my feet.
