(Bold: Person A; Regular text: Person B)
"I'm... I'm kinda..."
"Kinda what?"
"Kinda surprised."
"About what?"
"Don't take it the wrong way when I say this, but I'm kinda surprised you haven't completely shattered yet. On the other hand, I'm proud at the same time."
"Who says I haven't? For all you know, I'm just an extremely talented actress."
"True. Is that the case?"
"No."
"So you're not shattered?"
"I never said that. I just said I wasn't completely shattered. I'm like a chipped mug. I still work, but I'm not whole, either. "
"Fair enough."
"How about you? Are ya whole, cracked, broken, or shattered?"
"I'd put myself squarely in the category of whole and happy, thank you very much."
"Ooh, lucky. It's been a while since I could confidently say I was either of those, much less both at the same time."
"That's kind of sad, you know?"
"I know, but I'm used to it."
"Not helping your case."
"Who said I cared?"
"Nobody..."
"Who said I had to care?"
"Nobody..."
"Exactly! I see no reason to do so, so I shall not."
"Whatever you say."
"You think it's sad how long it's been since I could say I was happy, right?"
"That's almost exactly what I said, so I think it's kinda obvious, but yes, I do think it's sad."
"I find that hilarious."
"Really? Why?"
"Because it's been an even longer time since I was sad! When the good went, so did most of the bad. With happiness and the like went sadness and embarrassment. Fear stayed though. It always does."
"That is kinda funny, except for the part about fear."
"Ain't it, though?"
"Wait a minute... You said you thought it was funny, right?"
"Yeah, what's your point?"
"How can you find something funny if you don't feel joy?"
"Are you happy everytime you hear a joke so bad it's good?"
"No..."
"Is it still funny?"
"Alright, alright, fine... I see your point."
"Good."
"So... Do you just not feel? Or do your emotions just lack power?"
"I think I just don't feel what I feel, if that makes any sense... There aren't as many downsides as you might think. The biggest one is the lack of knowledge."
"What do you mean by that?"
"It's like when you don't hear what somebody is saying and you can't see them. They're talking, but you don't know that they're saying anything. For all I know, I could be completely head over heels for somebody, and not even know."
(This is a new form of storytelling I'm playing around with a bit. Comment what you think! It might end up a mini-series of sorts like "Day-Month-Year" did.
