I was out on the jetty alone when I heard the most beautiful sound I’d ever heard in my life. It sounded angelic. The sound surrounded me and engulfed my body. I couldn’t help myself. I began swaying to the tune, it made me feel happy. While dancing, someone uttered a word from under the jetty. I stopped and bent down to have a look. That’s when she surfaced. She was the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. Her beauty was hypnotizing. She called out to me.

“David.”

“How’d you know my name?” I replied.

“Come with me, David. I need you.” She said before she ducked down beneath the surface again.

I yelled out at her to wait but she was gone, the music stopped. I sat there confused, trying to understand what had just happened. I could barely remember to be honest, I only remember my encounter with a really beautiful woman. Strange, I thought as this occurred only less than five minutes ago. The sound started again… that beautiful sound. Once again I was swept away by it. Then, I heard her again.

“David, come with me.”

Her voice seemed transparent, like a shallow echo, yet so beautiful. She surfaced again. Her beauty hypnotized me as she reached her hand out to me. I looked her in the eye as I reached out and took her hand. She pulled me underwater without even giving me chance to hold my breath, she pulled me deep under the surface and that was when I saw her true form. My eyes followed her horrible decomposing hands to her face. She was hideous. Her skin wrinkled and decomposed. Patches missing revealing the inside of her mouth and her rib bones, both her eyes black as night and her teeth were plentiful and sharp and pointy. Finally I saw her tail, this was when I realized what was happening. This siren tricked me. Her tail was not at all like the beautiful fish tails we see in paintings and movies. It looked like rubber. It was black and stiff and covered in large silver scales. All I remember is seeing her gruesome face stretch wide apart as her wide mouth skinned open to attack me. She bit a large part of my arm off, I struggled as she scratched and hissed at me trying to get another bite. I fought her off and later woke up on the shore, wounded with bites and scratches all over my body.

A few days later, I noticed strange things happening to my body. I began feeling thirsty a lot and felt like I would faint if I didn’t drink a mug of water. Then my skin started to turn silvery and blue black. I think I got infected when that thing attacked me. I’m writing this to warn others. Don’t be deceived by their beauty. I can’t stay here anymore, I may cause harm to others. I’ve tried killing myself but it doesn’t work. My theory is that I never fought her off, she killed me. Now I’m turning into one of them. My feet have turned into flippers and fins have grown on the side of my head and arms. My eyes are black and my body is covered in scales and I have nothing but thirst for the ocean and hunger for human flesh. I must leave before I can no longer control myself.
