The Perfect Flower

I walk through life's garden

An enchanting field

To search for a flower

One that shall yield

A fragrance of temptations

To tease my mind

Petals that captivate my eyes

Such a flower I desire to find

I searched through the plain

Through every meadow and patch

Just as I was about to cease

Stood before me a thatch

Menacing in looks

It appeared like a wall

Conjured from the earth

To repel them all

As I crept closer the thorns revealed

A faint path not trodden for years

I could see the end of the eerie way

Its lustrous light dispelling my fears

Nearing the end I felt the warm wind

A whispering voice

Calm and soothing

I then had a choice

To turn back and abandon the darkening way

Or continue on and reach the end

The wind whispered again

"Are you my friend?"

I followed its call

To a moon lit clearing

The wind called again

"What are you fearing?"

I strode to its center

Where there lay a rose

It's petals pale as snow

A scent my mind only knows

I knelt to admire my newfound treasure

Rooted in the gravel

To be left for dead

I reached out my hand

Will its petals unravel?
