Alma Twiggins home

"I see people in need and in trouble. They are coming from multiple directions. All seeking the heart of hope. Come, my children! Come to the heart! Listen, fear not the trees!" Alma moaned, She coughed and opened her eyes rapidly blinking. She was troubled, her visions were becoming stronger and more vivid to her. She suspected she was coming down with the Sickness. She'd started with a persistent low fever but it was getting worse. "That is all for today, my children. I'm sorry but Lady Nonce must rest. No readings today...I..." Alma faltered and passed out. Levi could be heard in the background calling for his grandfather. His auntie was sick.

"Alma? Alma honey are you okay?" Samuel called out. Josiah rushed into the room. Alma was passed out in her chair. He felt her forehead and grabbed the microphone. "Samuel, she's passed out, and she's-burning up with fever!" Okay, Josiah, we're sending people to bring her to the hospital. We've got some right next door to you. Alma stirred. "Josiah please bring home some calming tea from Ian's. I need it for my readings." Alma passed back out. "She came aroun  asked for tea and then passed back out Samuel!" "Just stay with her till our men get there Josiah. Samuel could hear Levi crying in the background. Josiah heard a knock at the door." We're up here!" men rushed up the stairs.

Corporal Josh Larkin took Alma's vitals and gave her the once over. "It's the Sickness, Josiah. We have to take her in." "I understand. "Let's get her loaded. Levi and I are going to follow along. We were on our way to Ian's so Levi could be watched while I help the others. We're on the list for an escort in 20 minutes anyway. May as well follow you guys and save them a trip" Josh nodded. Let me get her wrapped up and we'll go. The two privates with Josh loaded Alma in the back of the van they were using. Josiah got Levi in the car he had been assigned, locked the apartment door, and hopped in the car.

Ian and Kyle's

Samuel sighed as he switched channels to Opal's. "I'm sorry Opal, Lady Nonce caught the Sickness and is being transported to the hospital." Opal sighed. Another contact down. How was she supposed to keep her channel going? "I'll pray for her recovery, Samuel." Opal snarled, She quickly caught herself and amended her tone, what else could she say? After the earlier fiasco, she didn't want to seem hard-hearted. That would definitely not work in her favor with her listeners.

"Pepepski this is Ethelwood, We have a small group of people here. We'd like an escort out of here if possible please." Samuel smiled. They hadn't expected more people from there but it looked like telling people to go to the post offices and call them had been a good idea. "I hear you Ethelwood let me see who we've got out your way today." Pepepski this is Black Wolf we have a team patrolling out that way today. If Ethelwood can sit tight we can get them easily. We'll even restock the post office for you."

Samuel smiled. "Thanks, Black Wolf. Did you copy that Ethelwood?" "We copy Pepepski. Sorry to say we ate what food was here they need to restock but we're glad to have them coming our way. Thanks, Black Wolf." "Not a problem Ethelwood. Be advised if we pick up any sick we may have to divert to Black Wolf and you might end up there for a night or two." 'That's fine Black Wolf. We just want to be sure we get there safely."

"Pepepski this is New Post checking in, God smiles on us today. Our group to you is safely on its way. Nothing else to report." "Copy New Post we're ready and waiting for them." "Pepepski this is White Pine, we're good. The Doctor channel handled our needs. No pickups as yet but we'll keep you informed." "Thanks, White Pine glad to know we could help." "Pepepski this is Mason, We had a good night. We didn't lose anybody last night thanks to the doctor's channel. Just so you know, everyone here is listening to Ms.Opal's channel today to hear what happens next up there."
