It was middle of the night when I woke up. I heard someone calling out for Black from the backyard. I could tell it was Lilith. Black woke up next and looked at me, checking if I was still asleep. I stayed in bed motionless with my eyes closed. I was good at pretending to be asleep.

Black got up from the bed, wore his coat and swiftly walked towards the balcony without making a noise. He then jumped from there. I followed him, silently. I squatted down in the corner so that I could see them, but they couldn't see me.

Black and Lilith were under the moonlit sky, looking at each other. It flared that spark of jealousy in me into a big burning fire. They looked good together, and it was so envious.

"Congratulations. You finally found her."

"Thanks, I guess. But why did you call me here?" Black asked.

"Just wanted to ask something that I didn't get a chance to ask before. Why haven't you told Eve yet?"

"How can I? I'm the one who couldn't keep my promises," Black replied. His words were weighed down by sadness. I didn't like him upset. I liked him more when he smiles and the time stops when I look at that bright face of his.

"I didn't know what promise you made and I won't ask you about it either. But you shouldn't wait anymore. If the difference is bothering you, then don't worry. It's not that rare for angels and humans to be together." Lilith consoled him.

"I don't mind that. It's just the rejection that frightens me." Lilith chuckled on his words.

"Can anyone reject the real Black? Anyway, take care. The coming days won't be easy for you both."

"You too. Don't hesitate to contact me if you need me."

Black just nodded silently and turned back. I quickly and quietly went to bed and pretended to sleep again. It's not a good thing to spy on others, but I couldn't help it. Black came through the balcony and laid down on the other side of the bed.

I had told Black that I'm ok if he doesn't want to tell me about my past, but at times like this, I get curious to know about my past. What promise could he have made to me back then?
