~ Vince's POV ~

I heard Lauren's key enter the lock to our apartment and my stomach dropped as soon as I remembered what I had planned for the night. My fingertips felt tingly as she walked in the door and flashed me a tired smile.

"How was your shift, hun?" I asked as she came and sat down next to me on the couch.

"It was so awful, we were so busy," Lauren said, laying her head back on the couch in exhaustion.

"I'm sorry," I said, giving her a kiss on the cheek and moving her hair away from her face. "Maybe you just want to stay in and relax tonight, instead of going out?"

"Oh, no," she said, a smile growing on her face. "I still want to go, if you do. I've been looking forward to it all day," she said, sitting up and giving me a kiss on the lips before excitement filled her eyes. And she didn't even know what I was going to ask her at dinner. "I should probably start getting ready." She sprung off of the couch and headed into the bathroom to start getting ready.

I had already set aside a nice outfit for myself to wear tonight, conveniently placing the ring in the inside pocket of my leather jacket. I picked out a nice pair of jeans and a button down shirt. I know it's not the fanciest thing to wear to a nice restaurant, but that's about as dressed up as I'm willing to get, without buying a tux.

After quickly getting myself dressed, I waited for her by the bathroom door. I watched her wrap section after section of her hair on her curling iron while watching me from the mirror.

"What?" She asked with a smile.

I shook my shoulders and just kept watching her with the biggest smile on my face. I wondered if she could predict what I was planning or if she thought I was just being weird. To be fair, this wouldn't be the first time I was acting like this around her. She laughed at me in the mirror.

After awhile she went into the closet and pulled out a short black dress, asking me to zip up the back of it for her.

"You're so beautiful," I said after she turned back around to face me. A smile flushed across her face and I helped her put on her jacket as she strapped on her high-heels. I put on my own shoes and my jacket with my little secret hidden inside.

"So where are we going?" She asked as we got into a cab and I told the driver what street corner to bring us to.

"You'll see," I said, reaching my hand out to rest on her knee. She looked so good in that dress, but I couldn't wait to see what she looked like later when I could take it off of her. Tonight was going to be so special for the two of us, I could barely hold in my excitement anymore.

The cab pulled up to the restaurant, where I made a reservation for us. It was a really classy place, I can't say I've been anywhere this nice, ever. It was insanely expensive for food, but I honestly didn't care. I knew that wouldn't impress Lauren either, but it was mainly to have a really special night.

We were seated quickly and our waiter brought us the bottle of wine that I had requested. Then we ordered our meals and we began the wait until it was brought to our table.

"Vince, what is all of this for?" Lauren asked with a curious expression on her face.

"For you," I responded with a smile.

"You don't have to spend this kind of money on just a dinner, Vince," she said, almost blushing. "I can pay my half, I had no idea we were going some place this nice." Lauren always got really dressed up, no matter where we were going. Today was no exception other than the fact that we actually went somewhere nice tonight.
