- - 😓 - -
⚠️ TRIGGER WARNING: Descriptions of an anxiety attack. ⚠️
•••
- you squeezed your knuckles harder around the outer rim of the bathroom sink.
- as you stared yourself down in the mirror.
- attempting to regulate the uneven gasps escaping your mouth.
- your chest growing tighter with each panicked breath you took.
- your mind had sprung into overdrive and your body felt like it was crumbling.
- your self control evaporating dramatically with every passing second.
- you felt tears tempt your eyelids, as you tugged at the button up shirt covering your torso.
- a claustrophobic feeling overcoming you.
- the material now slightly damp from the sweat coating your skin.
•••
- you pulled your phone from the back pocket of your jeans.
- hayley was due to pick you up at 7, to attend zac's 28th birthday party 'round at taylor's place this evening.
- the time on your phone reading 6:55pm.
- the constant thought pending on your mind that she'd find you like this drove you into immense worry.
- you had dissociated yourself, your senses laying dormant.
- until you heard the familiar noise of your apartment door opening from afar.
hayley had arrived, and suddenly everything began to feel a little more real again.
- 'Y/N? You ready, honey?' You heard her call out, curiously.
- you sighed deeply, sinking down to rest against the bathroom door; her voice the most comforting sound in the world.
- clenching your eyes closed tightly, you waited.
- knowing that'd she'd ultimately find her way to you.
- suddenly she tried the bathroom door handle, and you jumped at the urgency in her actions.
- 'Y/N,  you okay? You in there?' She questioned quickly, her tone concerned but calm.
- 'I'm here.' You replied quietly, your voice cracking on the brink of tears.
- hayley recognising this immediately, knowing that you dealt with anxiety attacks often.
- but, she'd never been around during one of this severity before.
•••
- 'Can you let me inside?' She inquired softly, patiently awaiting your response.
- 'I don't want you to see me like this, Hayley.' You managed to admit, your words escaping between panting breaths.
- you heard hayley exhale briefly before she spoke again.
- 'All I want is to help you through this. Unlock the door baby, please.' She breathed, the honesty in her words overwhelming.
- with that you rose to your feet, swiping at the tears that rolled down your cheeks.
- as you opened the door to see hayley standing in front of you.
- she looked so stunning, you couldn't help but feel guilty.
- feel as if you'd ruined everything.
- but those emotions of uncertainty were soon subdued as hayley inched closer, cradling you in her arms.
- 'It isn't getting better, Hayley. It won't stop. I don't know what to do. I feel like I'm suffocating.' You bawled, your tornado chest still heavy as you melted into her arms.
- 'Hey,' She hushed, stroking your hair gently as she held you.
- 'let's try what we practiced, okay?' She smiled, taking your shaky hands into her own.
- before, gesturing for you sit down on the edge of the bath tub.
- hayley knelt down in front of you, beginning to coach your breathing back to normal.
- encouraging you to inhale through your nose and exhale through your mouth.
- suddenly everything began to appear a lot brighter, your anxiousness beginning to disintegrate.
- the sensation of hayley's thumb grazing cross your knuckles coaxing you back to reality.
•••
- 'I really don't think I've loved anyone more in my entire life.' You gushed, your voice still low but a lot clearer and more composed than it has been in the past hour.
- hayley's loveable eyes glistened as you gazed into them, bearing a beautiful smile across her lips.
- 'I love you.' She replied sweetly, reaching up kissing you cautiously yet passionately at the same time.
- with her palm caressing your cheek, you couldn't help but grin against her.
- 'You're feeling better?' She asked, leaning back once again to look at you.
- her own posture beginning to relax as soon yours did.
- 'Mhmm.' You nodded genuinely, tucking a piece of her platinum hair behind her ear.
- 'I think I might wanna stay here, for just a little longer though.'
- 'As long as you need.' She agreed, filling the space by your side.
- allowing you to cuddle in close to her.
- she hummed gently, whispered sweet nothings into your ear and played with your hair.
- until the two of you found yourselves arriving at the party a little under an hour later.

I understand these kind of imagines can be helpful to people who deal with anxiety, like they have been for me in the past.
