...We might think that taking a creative field would save us from the endless nights spent toiling over books. Most people in my class had snuck their way into fashion because they hated to study. Math was too difficult and everything else was too boring or too complicated. That means no English and no science. And they're not entirely to blame. This far in life I had only come by a handful of language teachers that found fun in the subject and made us have fun too. English is such a bizarre language. The letters and consonants are always pulling disappearing acts where they appear in a word but are nowhere to be found in its pronunciation. There are also numerous shape shifters in this ordeal. If you don't know what I mean, please read more books...

...The more you read, wander, explore; The more you listen. The better you can see. It is a way to develop taste.

Speaking of taste...

It's simple. The more you take, the more you can give. How will you know which flavor is the best if you've never tasted anything beyond your box? Yes, chocolate is delicious. I too enjoy chocolate. But have you ever tried caramel? What about caramel center chocolate bars?

Don't be a one-note.

Try.

Love bollywood hit songs? Try the best selling album on the Billboard hot 100. Love savory Indian foods? Try savory Caribbean cuisine. Try dumplings. Jjajjangmyeon. You'll either love it or hate it. But take it. Watch that one English dubbed east asian movie your friend's been raving about. You look at the cover and say it's Chinese. That what's the use if you can't tell the characters apart. It's actually Japanese and those people have been way ahead of us in computer graphics and cinematography and story-telling at large. The worst part is that you know it. You know how paced these people are in their technology. China has the hottest economy. And when you give up these opportunities for gaining more knowledge and cultural experience just because of your inability to tell apart a South Korean and an Indian from Manipur - it's sad. And bad for you. Because you are projecting yourself as an ignorant and judgemental person.

That's how you un-attract the smart people around you.

And possible sponsors too.

This is not a personality development class.

I am a fashion student. (Active designer but studying because I need that degree!)

I already had two years experience in dressmaking prior to taking admission in college.

I am an Indian.

I love reading books of all shapes and sizes (and genres). Briefly considered becoming an author and English professor but that died quickly. I have an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and trying new things. I am the most fun nerd you have ever met (also the most stylish).

Even now that I am in Fashion design, I cannot help but want to write.

So I decided to start a blog.
