Chapter 37 - Long distance

Hey guys sorry I haven't posted in a while I had writers block for ages. This chapter is slightly smaller but enjoy :)

Clary POV

When I got back from Spain it was late in the evening. I called Izzy and said I would pick up Tom tomorrow because he was already asleep. Maddy was staying at Amelia's with Jess tonight

I felt exhausted. Probably jet lag. I took a hot bath but couldn't help feel a little disappointed that Alec wasn't here to make some stupid comment or innuendo about it. I crawled into bed but I kept tossing and turning for ages

I had gotten used to having him next to me again and now I had this giant bed to myself. I wanted to spread out and starfish, take advantage of the space while I had it. But truth be told I liked snuggling up next to Alec each night. It made me feel warm and safe

Don't you hate it when you tired and can't sleep? I grabbed my laptop and watched a few episodes of Brooklyn nine nine until I fell asleep

When I got up in the morning I was like a zombie. I dragged myself out of bed and went to get Tom

"Mommy!" He ran into my arms and I hugged him tightly

"Hey how's my little knight been?" I nudged his cheek playfully and he giggled

"Can we go to the park?" He asked

"Of course we can. Why don't we get some food first?"

He nodded so I grabbed my coat and we went to our favourite little cafe. Takis. After that we went to the park

Tom went straight to the playground and we stayed there for most of the day

The day was fairly quiet and soon it was time to go to sleep again. I tucked Tom in and read him a story before getting into bed myself

I debated whether to call Alec because it hadn't been that long since I'd seen him. Doesn't matter, I'll just dial anyway

I clicked on his name and put the phone to my ear. He picked up almost instantly which didn't surprise me

"Hey"

"Hey red" he replied which quickly put a smile on my face

"I miss you already" I admitted

"I miss you too" he said "Face time?" He suggested as I agreed

We talked for a while before the jet lag returned again and it was time to sleep

Clary POV 1 week later

I was in the staffroom at lunch when my phone rang. I looked at the screen and smiled

"Go talk to your lover boy" Magnus said pushing me off the sofa. I laughed as he winked at me and threw some glitter. I don't even know where he got it from. It just appeared out of thin air like magic

"Hey" I said answering the phone as I walked to the art classrooms. Everyone was at lunch so they were empty

"Hey. Is this a bad time?" Alec asked
