Chapter 25 - Will's in trouble

Clary POV

I had just got back from work and Maddy was doing some homework while Tommy was building stuff with lego

"Mommy!" Tom said running into my arms. I picked him up and he hugged me tightly

"Hey, how's my little knight?" I asked tousling his hair and he giggled

"Mommy look I built a dinosaur" he pointed to the Lego on the floor and there was structure vaguely resembling that of a dinosaur

"It looks amazing"  I said kissing his cheek. I put him back down and he went back to his Lego. I was about to and get changed when my phone rang

"Is this Clarissa Lightwood?" The voice on the phone asked

"Yes, who's this?"

The woman then explained that it was the hospital. Oh god. Will had been in an accident

"I'm calling on behalf of Teresa Herondale she's quite upset right now and has been asking for you"

"Of course I'll be there right away" I said putting the phone down. Tessa was still getting to know her parents so she wouldn't have called them and Will's parents were in Wales right now. So Tess called me. And I only turned my phone on when I got home

I looked at the screen and saw dozens of missed calls and messages from Tess that I should have picked up. God I had to go now

"What's going on?" Maddy asked "it's about Tessa isn't it? She literally rushed out of here when I got back and she didn't say anything"

"Will's in hospital and I have to go. Tess needs help, so I need to borrow the motorbike" I said

"Is he okay?" She asked handing me the motorbike keys from her pocket

"I don't know, I'll text you later when I find out. Hey Tom come here"

He strolled over to me and I picked him

"I have to go out for a bit okay? So stay here with Maddy" I said as he nodded

"Mommy what's wrong?" He said wrapping his little arms around my neck

"Nothing you need to worry about okay? Daddy will be back soon. And listen to Maddy" I kissed his cheek and put him back down before leaving

When I got to the hospital Tessa was pacing around in the corridor

"Tessa" I called

"Oh thank god" she said running up to me and engulfing me in a hug. Her eyes were red so she'd obviously being crying

"What happened?" I asked

"I don't know I just got called to say that Will got shot trying take down some robber and then the doctor said he was in surgery when I got here so I had to wait. I um.. I left Tom at your house because Maddy was already back so I thought he'd be okay" Tess said sounding out of breath as I nodded

"Mrs Herondale?" A doctor said

"Yes?" Tess said

"We managed to get the bullet out. He did lose a lot of blood though and he was unstable so we had induce a coma for his own safety. He is in a stable condition now" they said

"When will he wake up?" I asked. Tessa clearly was in a state of shock and was silent, still processing the doctors information

"We're not sure yet, he must wake up on his own but hopefully it should take only a few weeks. He's in room 374" the doctor said as I nodded
