Chapter 28 - Awake

Will POV

I could hear the faint beeping sound of the monitor and tried opening my eyes. At first I was met by a blinding light making me snap them shut again. I tried again, this time succeeding and opening my eyes fully

I looked directly across the room and saw Clary look up and go wide eyed

"Will. You're awake!" she said as I gave a weak smile

"I'll get a doctor" she said immediately getting up and leaving as I did my best to nod but my whole body felt stiff

I looked down and saw my Tess with her head leaning on the edge of the bed fast asleep. I let my hand stroke her hair and fall down her face gently grazing her cheek causing her eyes to open as she looked at me

She blinked a few times before throwing her arms around me as I attempted to hug her back but my whole body felt sore

"Am I dreaming?" She said with a worried face

"No" was all I managed to say before my throat felt dry and raw

Tessa grabbed a glass of water and handed it to me. I drank it all just as Clary came back in with a doctor

"Mr Herondale nice to see you finally awake" the doctor said

"I feel like I'm in an episode of scrubs" I replied now being able to talk properly as Tess smiled and Clary shook her head at me but still smiled

They ran a few tests before saying I could leave in a day or two but I had to take it easy. I tried sitting up but everything still felt sore so I sat back down again

"I'll leave you two" Clary said as Tessa and I both gave a smile before she left. I immediately moved over to the right side of the bed so Tess could sit next to me on the bed and she happily sat down

"I missed you so much" she said hugging me again

"I missed myself too" I joked as she rolled her eyes at me and I smiled

"Missed you too Tess" I said kissing her cheek

"How's peanut?" I asked. I missed my little girl

"She misses you a lot but she'll be glad you're awake now"

"Why are you looking at me like that?" Tess asked as I smiled. I cupped her face in my hands and kissed her softly. I felt her hands run through my hair as I caressed her cheek feeling her smooth skin beneath my hand before breaking away needing air

I smiled as her cheeks flushed and they now held a tinge of pink

Tessa POV

I went home with a big grin on face and put Lucie to bed

"Is daddy better?" Lucie asked as I tucked her in and nodded with a smile

"Yes he is. Now go to sleep and we can go see him tomorrow" I said kissing her forehead. She smiled before shutting her eyes

"Thank you fairies" I heard her mumble before snuggling into her bed. Wow we had an amazing little girl

The next day I was woken up by Lucie jumping on my bed

"Mommy wake up we have to go see daddy now!" She screamed in my ear. I checked the time. 6:30am

"Sweetie it's too early to go yet we have to wait a couple hours" I said as she got into the bed next to me

"Do we have to wait?" She whined as I pulled the cover over us

"Yes Luce, why don't you get some sleep, so you're not tired when we go and visit daddy okay?"
