Chapter 21 - Bruised

Clary POV

I woke up around 8:00 and saw Alec was still sleeping as well. He had pulled half of the covers over himself so I moved closer because it was a bit cold and went back to sleep

I felt his arm slide under my back and around my waist as he pulled me slightly closer but then his grip was a little tight

"Alec" I said quietly placing a hand on his cheek but he didn't wake up

"Alec" I said again louder as it was obvious he was having some sort of bad dream but he still didn't wake and gripped my waist tighter making a small cry of pain escape my lips. His fingers were digging into my skin

"ALEC" I shouted shaking him awake as he woke up a few seconds later. I pushed myself out of his grip and he quickly moved arm away

I scrambled out of bed and lifted my top up seeing the area starting to bruise slightly on my waist

"Oh god, Clary I'm so sorry" Alec said looking at me as he got out of bed

"It's fine, I'm fine" I said as he walked closer to me but I took a step back

"I umm...I'm going to get some ice" I said quickly leaving the room and going to the kitchen

What was he dreaming about that caused him to do that, I thought. It must have been bad. And I just rushed out of the room, probably making him feel worse. I was so stupid. But to be honest I think I had to leave, it kind of scared me a bit

Alec POV

What the actual fuck is wrong with me I just hurt my own wife. That stupid dream. I needed to talk to Clary but she rushed off so quickly. She actually moved away when I walked towards her. Of course she did she's scared, you idiot. I mentally cursed myself

I ran a hand through my hair and decided to take a shower and get dressed before heading to the kitchen. I figured that Clary might need some time to herself

Clary POV

"Clary" Alec said startling me, as I nearly dropped my coffee cup

"God you scared me" I said putting my cup on the table

"Sorry" he said with a guilty face "how's umm..." He pointed to where the bruise was

"It's fine" I said walking up to him but he kept his hands firmly by his side

I reached out for his arm but he quickly took a step back

"I don't want to hurt you again" he said quietly with a sad face but I quickly went towards him and backed him against the wall so he had nowhere to go

"You're not going to" I said seeing that he was just as scared as me

"It was an accident, okay?" I said looking at him "yes it scared me a little to be honest, but I am completely fine"

He let out a sigh of relief as I moved back a little so he wasn't stuck against the wall

"You sure you're okay?" He said as I cupped his face in my hands

"Perfectly fine" I said smiling at him as he gave a small smile back and I kissed him

"Remember my parents, Jon and Aline are coming in half an hour?" I said as he nodded. We'd invited them over this weekend because their wedding was soon and so Aline would be part of the family, and we thought it would be good to spend time together

"Okay, you get Tommy up and I need to shower" I said kissing him again before getting ready

30 minutes later I was ready and Alec had fed Tommy who was currently playing with his dinosaur toy
