Chapter 22:

Madison’s POV:

I wake up with a start, my heart racing and I immediately reach in my pocket to feel the haunting letter my finger’s grasp. Its still there, and still feels like daggers in my heart. I look over at the clock on the bedside table and see its only 5:30 am, this is my chance. There is no way anyone is up around here, so I can just leave the note sitting on the kitchen counter. Somewhere they will all see it, but I just won’t have to present it to them. I know I don’t have that kind of courage, yet this way they will know.

My feet feel like weights as I pitter patter down the hallway to the kitchen. The house is so quiet, its hard to believe that a bunch of guys live here. Once I have set the note on the counter, I make my way back to my room and try my very best to go back to sleep. Knowing that when I wake up, there will another one of those exhausting and somewhat pointless talks with my Dads about how they will protect me and blah blah blah. But at least, at least I know that deep down I did the right thing.

Harry’s POV:

I wake up at around 10 ish and already cannot wait to get on the beach today. I’m guessing Madison has never been on a beach before, maybe she’ll like it. I mean, I did kinda mess up her chances of getting in the water, but we can always do stuff in the sand. She seems to be taking everything so well, the whole going back to London thing of course. I just hope she’s being honest with us, and she really does have faith in the fact that we’ll protect her. But its always hard to tell with Madison, you never really know where you stand with her.

I walk to her room to check on her, only to find her fast asleep. Finally, she is resting without nightmares, God knows she needs all the rest she can get. I make my way to the kitchen to start on breakfast, and as I walk in I see a note placed on the counter. The note has Madison’s name on the front of it, in a handwriting I cannot seem to recognize. There is a beating in my heart that is not normal, like my instincts are kicking in and what awaits me is not pleasant. I take the note in my hand and begin to read with the beating of my heart constant and rapid. From the very first line, my breathe hitches knowing who this letter is from. I read the letter over and over again as if I’m afraid I am missing something, but I know full well everything I need to know. Madison put this note here. She knows about it, and this was her way of showing it to us. My mind races for a solution, but I know I must do this when the boys are around. I go ahead and start breakfast, hoping that the busy work will distract me.

One by one, the lads wake up, and one by one they read the letter. All of us agree that we need everyone with us, including Madison, before we start to piece everything together. But the message is clear, no one is safe anymore. Not even us. And escpically not Madison. Maybe we aren’t all in panic because we know we are somewhere safe right now, but soon we will be back in London. And soon, her dad will be closer than we would ever prefer. As the boys pile in, we all agree that Maddie did the right thing. I don’t blame her for not telling us straight out, that would be too much on her. But she told us, in her own way. Thats really all that matters to us. But now, we have to figure out what to do, but I don’t think any of us have the slightest clue.

Its not long before Madison shuffles into the kitchen shyly, and by the look in her eyes, she knows we’re all going to have to talk. “Good morning...” She mumbles as she sits at the table next to Niall and Liam. We’ve already began eating knowing Madison will hardly eat at all. Liam leans over to rub her back giving her a “Good morning,” back.
