Chapter 8:

Louis POV:

I can’t believe she heard me! I didn’t mean that, I don’t even know why I said it! I guess I was just caught up in the moment? The things she’s saying is utterly heart breaking, I didn’t even know she was capable of being so mad. Her voice is still so tiny and small, but she’s defiantly pissed off.

Finally she had to gasp for breathe, and I think it hit her of what all she just said. Her face turned pale white like she had just seen a ghost!

“Ma- Maddie, sweetie, I- I didn’t mean that, Your not a pain. Not at all! I guess I was just- just frustrated?” My voice stuttered out as we all stood to approach her.

As if on point, we all started walking towards her. Her eyes filled with fear, the tears about to spill over, as if she was about to break.

After about two second, her eyes lost that cloud of fear. Leaving eyes left with pain.

The pain of the past 13 years piled up in her eyes, a brick of tear threatening to flow over. You could see her inner pleads to keep her tears from spilling over, she was vulnerable, and to her, that feeling was the most dangerous thing in the world.

I could tell she was about to break down, that the little girl inside of her just wanted to be held, kissed, loved, but by people who wouldn’t hurt her. She wanted that feeling of love so bad, but refused to admit it. I just wanted to run to her, pick her up, hold her in my arms, and a sure her that I’m right here for her, that I’m not going any where.

We were all inching towards her, wanting to mend her broken heart, desperate to save a little girl that we have grown so protective of in a very short period of time.

I could see in her eyes that she was about to make a run for it, but she also knew that there was no where to hid.

“Come here baby girl.” Liam said only an arms length away from her trembling body as he kneeled down so that he was eye level with her.

A flash of panic came across her eyes, but was soon replaced with longing of comfort. Without a thought she ran into Liam’s opened arms with her arms around his neck, holding on as if her life deepened on it. Liam tightly fastened his arms around her rubbing her back whispering things in her ear, as her sobs began.

“Its ok baby, I’ve gotta ya, I’m not going any where.”

“Your safe with us, baby girl, we’ll protect you.”

“ Hunny, we’ve gotch ya, we’re not gunna let anyone hurt you.”

He picked her up with her legs wrapped around his wastes, for once, her heart was open and vulnerable. That must scare her to the think that she was so open, but she just needed someone to love her.

She’s just a little girl at the end of the day.

Liam carefully fitted his hand over Maddie’s hair and gently encouraged her to rest her head in the crook of his neck. Her eyes out of sight, buried in his shirt. Just the sound of her desperate cries was enough to put me over the edge, but I have to stay strong for Maddie. Liam continued to soothe her hair, as we all exchanged glances.

No words were needed. Just a nod.

Zayn leads us to the couch and we all follow, with Liam still holding on to Maddie, as we sit down.

He effortlessly picks Maddie up and sits her in his lap, leaning side ways. Her head by one shoulder and her feet tucked in her chest by the other. Rocking her back and forth, holding her as close as possible. Letting her just cry her heart out, letting all her pain break lose.

I was right next to her by her head, and Harry by her feet, while Zayn and Niall in front of her sitting on the coffee table.

Finally, Liam pulled Madison from his chest to look her in the eyes, cupping her face in his hands, wiping away her tears with his thumbs.

I looked over at Liam, and he gave a small nod.

“Baby girl, go see daddy ok?” Liam cooed as gently as his voice would let him, pushing Maddie towards me.

She clung to him, but Liam opened up his arm so I could grab hold of her body. I simply moved her into my arms enough so that her body was still in Liam arms. I pushed back her long hair out of her eyes, those red puffy eyes, pleading not to be any where near me.

“Baby, I didn’t mean what I said. You are by far not a pain. You need to know how much we all love having you here. You are perfect, in every way, shape, and form. You were meant to be in this family. I’m so sorry for saying what I said, it was stupid. And you deserve better then me saying that.” I a sured to her as a whimper would escape her lips every so often. “Is what you said true, a- about your past?”

She just simply nodded before new tears started up.

“Shhhh, baby, its ok, I’ve gotach.” I cooed

“Sweetie, what happened with your parent? Will you tell us?” Zayn encourages.

She shakes her head frantically.

“Hey hey hey, baby, calm down. Shhh, everything gunna be alright.” I reassured her.

“We need to know what happened to you baby girl.” Harry tried to reason with her.

It looked as if she was thinking for a moment, then all of the sudden she shakily stood up. I pulled her back down into my lap thinking she was trying to make a run for it.

“I-it w-will e-e-expl- explain.” She hardly got about about a whisper in-between cries.

“Harry go with her...” Liam instructed. With a nod Harry stood up and leaned down so he was eye level with Maddie sitting on my lap.

“Come on, baby girl.”

Harry opened his arms, as she hesitantly entered, as he picked her up.

They returned five minutes later with the same journal we had seen in Maddie’s bed  few days ago.

She held onto it by her chest, holding on for dear life as Harry brought her back down.

“Whats that sweet heart?” Niall asks with a warm smile attempting to encourage our terrified daughter.

“I-its uhh, i-its my, journal... I (sniff) should, e-plain (sniff) everything.” Her voice breaking as fear took over and stiffing her body.

“Come here baby.” Harry orders picking up Maddie’s shaking body and crawling her into  his lap and snuggling her up into his chest. She hesitantly handed Liam the journal, and he began to recite from the first page.

“Dear Journal....”
