Chapter 15:

Niall’s POV:

Stiff.

Thats all I can think.

My back is stiff.

My head is stiff.

Sleeping on the icy tile floor is certainly a shock from sleeping in overpriced mattresses.

Even though the knots in my neck says other wise, I would sleep on the sickly sterilized floor for years if Maddie needed me to.

Theres no way in hell any of us are going to leave her alone in the hospital, epically when she’s battling heart failure. I can’t imagine being any where more important then by my little girl’s side.

I check the clock by Maddie’s bed to read 8:49 am. I can’t remember the last time I free willing woke up this early, I suppose I’m to worried about Maddie to sleep?

As I look over at my daughter I notice that Harry is in her bed, holding on to Maddie as if he doesn’t hold on tight enough she’ll float away.

One of his arms wraps around her shoulder pulling her delicate body to replace a pillow with Harry’s chest. The other arm engulfs her abnormally petite waste, while keeping her forearm with the IV injected resting on top of his arm.

Maddie is sound asleep but doesn’t look at rest, her eye brows are close together while raised in pain. Every minute or so her head shakes a bit from side to side as if she is avoiding something, or someone. There is absolutely no distance from the two but it looks as if she is far off living in an unknown world. A world that from what I can see by the look on my daughter’s face, doesn’t seem too pleasant.

One by one the lads wake up, all except Maddie.

We find our selves sitting on the side of the gigantic bed that holds our daughter and one of our best mates.

Harry gently stokes Maddie’s hair soothing her every time she uncomfortably stirs in her sleep.

My eyes appear to super glued. Glued to the most important thing in my life. Glued to my daughter.

Blinking is not an option, I must keep my full focus on Maddie.

She looks like she is in so much physical and mental pain it hurts to watch.

I’m not alone on the emotion, all of the lads are fixed on Maddie’s sleeping figure. As if a moment distracted could result in something drastic. She is in the hospital after all. To make matters worse, we are part of the reason she’s in the hospital.

Finally Harry breaks the silence that drowns my thoughts, “She had a bad dream last night. Must have been pretty terrifying, because she came and woke me up.” The two short sentence out of his mouth don’t seem to make it through to me.
