They are the offspring between humans and gods. This makes them a hybrid, technically, as they are half human and half god. Demigods can be food in Greek, Irish and Hindu mythology.

Their powers and abilities come from their immortal parent (the god) but their powers are only half of what their parents are. Their weaknesses can sometimes be the fact that they are mortal and are thus killed my mortal weaknesses. However, those that are immortal, have a weakness that is similar to the immortal parents weakness.

A well known example of a Demigod is Hercules, son of Zeus, in Greek mythology. He had extraordinary strength, courage, ingenuity, endurance and extremely good with weapons. Another example is Achilles, son of Peleus, in Greek mythology who is well known for being killed after he was shot in his heel by Apollo. This was due to his weakness being in his heel and the one thing that could kill him. This is also where we get the term Achilles heel from. Another example is Helen of Troy, daughter of Zeus, in Greek mythology who was know for her great beauty and how she ignited the Trojan war.
