"....human baby's have been known to crack ribs."

Later on that evening, Jacob returned back to the Cullen house, with both Seth and Leah. Jacob had left Sam's pack, with Seth wanting to join him. Leah only joined the Black Pack because she didn't want her baby brother to die. Ronnie respected that.

"Sam's lost the element of surprise," Jacob told Ronnie and some of the Cullen's as Bella slept on the couch. "And he doesn't want to take you on outnumbered, so he's not going to come at you head on. He's got the place surrounded and he'll wait for his opportunity."

"We won't get through without a fight." Emmett said.

"No fights." Carlisle ordered. "We won't be the ones to break the treaty."

"The treaty is void, at least in Sam's mind." Jacob pointed out to them.

"No it ours," Esme's soft voice filled the air as she handed Ronnie a sandwich.

"Carlisle, no one's hunted for weeks." Emmett reminded him.

"We'll make do." Carlisle said to his son and then faced Jacob. "You've done us a great service, Jacob. Thank you."

Jacob looked around and then went outside to Leah and Seth. They were going off to search if Sam's pack was anywhere close to the treaty line.

"Where are you in all of this, Veronica?" Carlisle asked her. "This so-called upcoming fight."

"I don't know." She took a bite out of the sandwich. "I'm not going to fight any of the pack and they can't fight me."

"How so?" Esme asked.

"'Cause Paul imprinted on me, and whoever a wolf imprints on, can't be harmed by that pack." Ronnie shrugged her shoulders. "It's their most absolute law."

"He broke another one of her ribs." Edward called out to them from the living room.

"Don't make such big deal about it." Ronnie frowned at him as she stood in the doorway. "Even normal human baby's have been known to crack ribs."

Days had passed and luckily for the Cullens's, there was still no sign of Sam and his pack attacking. Ronnie, Jacob and the Cullen's were all sitting around the living room with Bella hooked up to an IV drip. Bella was holding Ronnie's hand, trying to squeeze it, but she had no energy.  Bella started to get uncomfortable and sat up. Edward placed a bucket in front of her in case she got sick. Ronnie followed Bella's lead and sat up, rubbing her sister's back. Whenever Bella would whimper, Jacob would go to her, worried.
