Using all the strength you could muster, you forced yourself to stand on your feet. Ignoring the pain from the stubs where your wings once were, you shuffled yourself in between the two spirits. At the sight of you, they immediately came to a halt. "(Y/n)?" They both said in unison.
"Enough! Both of you! Who said that either of you could make decisions for me?!" You yelled at them angrily, causing them to stare at you in surprise. You then glared at the king of nightmares. "You have some explaining to do." Pitch sighed begrudgingly, knowing this moment will come sooner or later.

"Why didn't you tell me about my memories?" You asked. Pitch's yellow irises glared at the snow-covered ground. "I figured it would be too much for you to handle. That's why I didn't tell you." You and Jack remained silent, allowing Pitch to continue. "The truth is that I knew that you were destined to become a guardian in order to defeat me. To stop that from ever happening, I decided the best thing to do was to kill you. So, I waited until your sixth birthday when you and your parents went out that night. Then, I conjured up a storm of darkness to execute all of you. I thought my problem was solved, that is until my initial target ended up being the only survivor."
His words sank in as realization hit you. "Y-you....killed my parents...?" You asked in shock. "Yes...I did..." He replied solemnly, staring straight into your (e/c) eyes. Your fists clenched in anger but you decided to keep quiet and allow Pitch to continue.

"Once I figured out which orphanage you were taken to, I took it upon myself to kill you with my bare hands. But when I saw you, I couldn't bring myself to do it. You were so lonely, broken, and consumed with fear. I couldn't help but see myself in you. At that moment, I decided to raise you as my own." Hearing this, your fists began to relax. A frown then made its way onto Pitch's features.

"At first, I thought I thought I had lost my mind. I mean, what was I thinking? A spirit of shadows and nightmares raising a human child?" His frown then turned into a small smile. "But I will admit, it was an experience I enjoyed." Your (e/c) eyes widen at his unexpected words. Were you hearing things? Pitch let out a half-hearted chuckle. "I never thought I would enjoy tucking you in at night, hearing you talk about that strange place you called school, celebrating your birthday, and watching you grow up..."

~Flashback~

A satisfied sigh escaped the (h/c) haired girl's lips as she took in the atmosphere of her new house. Feeling her stomach growl a bit, she made her way into the kitchen to grab a snack. After grabbing a (f/s), she walked back in the living room but froze in her tracks. "Father?" She exclaimed in surprise. "How is everything going, daughter?" Pitch asked, turning to face her. "I've settled in fine. Thanks for asking." She replied before biting into her (f/s). "You seem satisfied with your new home." Pitch said, noticing her chipper attitude.

"Yep! You have no idea. It's such a relief to have my own personal space." She said enthusiastically as she finished her (f/s), oblivious to the residue that was left on her cheek. Acknowledging this, Pitch licked his thumb and attempted to smear it off. "Eww! No! I don't want germs!" (Y/n) exclaimed in disgust as she tried to swat away his hands. Pitch couldn't help but chuckle as grabbed her chin. "Hold still." He instructed as he gently wiped off the residue with his thumb, causing the girl to groan in displeasure.

"Gross! I just took a shower!" She exclaimed as she wiped the 'germs' off with her sleeve. Pitch laughed at the girl's childish behavior as she plopped down on the sofa with a pout on her face.
"You know, not every sixteen year old is able to buy their own property." Pitch commented while continuing to admire the house. "Well, not every sixteen year old has the money they got from their rich deceased parents." (Y/n) retorted, smirking triumphantly. Pitch felt a hint of pain in his chest. Was this...guilt? Ignoring the feeling, he chuckled at the girl and sat on the end of the sofa. "You have a point there."
