Robyne couldn't help but to smile while listening to her father's story. Nasa isang coffee shop kasi silang dalawa sa Paris, France. As what her dad told her, it was the coffee shop where her mom and dad had their first date.
"Your mom was really a wonderful woman," Her dad started as she was sipping the French vanilla latte they ordered earlier, "I have always adored her. She was young, free-spirited and independent, just like you." Robyne giggled at his description. Despite the winter season, it was a good weather. Their surroundings were peaceful and calm, even the other people looked happy on their own.
"How did you two meet?" She curiously asked. It was now her father turn to smile. It seems that her father was happy to talk about her mom.
"I met her at a pub. She was a singer. She sings usually at night and the crowd loves her. I was on a vacation that time sa France. I just got annulled five months ago. The arranged marriage that I had with your Tita Tina ended." Tina was her dad second wife whom she had four half-sibilings. His first wife, Margie (whom she also had three half-siblings) as what she had learned also married his dad, pre-arranged. His father came from a traditional wealthy family who believes that the rich should only be for the rich.
Natahimik naman si Robyne sa ikinuwento nito. She suddenly remembers Emilio, she remembers the first time she saw him singing at the club. He made her remember her deceased mom.
"I was having a break from work and she was singing. She had an angelic voice. I may not believe at love at first sight but I do believe that I fell in love with your mom the moment I heard her voice." Arthur added as Robyne could see that sparkle on his eyes while telling those things. Pati tuloy siya ay nakaramdam ng kilig habang nakikinig dito.
She never really know whom her dad was until her mother's death. Hindi kasi kinukwento ng Mama niya ang tungkol dito.
"I was mesmerized by Angelie Mercier. Just like her name, she was really angel who just fell from the heavens. After her gig, I waited for her outside, I introduced myself and asked her out. She was pretty hard to get 'cause she turned me down. I even tried to bribe her and asked her price but your mom slapped me so hard on my face," Arthur chuckled, "She told she can't be bought by anything and stormed out. But I was persistent."
Robyne rested her chin with her two hands on the table while listening attentively at her parents' love story.
"I had a lot of connections and later on, I learned where she lives and even background-checked her. She was a young twenty-three year old French woman who works at an art gallery museum and a singer at night. I showed up at her apartment the next day and apologized. I brought her flowers and luckily, I brought white lilies and those flowers were her favorite."
