She wants to live.
No. For her, it was fine to die early. She didn't care. She already knows she won't live longer - and rather sulking into the corner and getting depressed, she chose to be carefree. Getting wild and adventurous without thinking that one day she'll be gone. Putting in her mind the saying 'you only live once.'
But that was before.
That was before when this shy, awkward and too serious professor came into her life. Unexpectedly.
She got more inspired in going to her classes, reviewing her lessons for the exams and most importantly, taking good care of her health because she wants to live longer now.
Even though there's no cure for it, she's becoming positive that she'll be completely healed someday.
Robyne's professor dismissed their classes as all of them stood up. Siya naman ay napatayo na rin habang tinitignan ang phone niya. It was a text coming from the hospital clinic where she usually do her lab tests, including xrays and 2D echo. It was reminding her for her monthly check-up next week.
Sumunod naman ang text nito. She smiled when she read he was already waiting outside. Dali-dali naman niyang kinuha ang mga gamit niya at lumabas sa classroom.
Then there, she saw him sitting at one of the benches near the building of where their classroom is located.
She excitedly ran towards him and hugged him from behind. Lio then looked back and chuckled when he finally saw her.
"Sorry kung naghintay ka." She said as she settled down beside him. Lio assisted her in putting down some of her stuff.
"It's fine. I entertained myself with books that I borrowed from the lib earlier."
"Really?" Robyne glanced at the pile of books beside him. True enough, the books were all about microbiology and pathology.
It's been six months since they started dating. After the call she had with the older senator, it turned out well. Kinabukasan nga ay kaagad ipinatawag si Lio at nagkaroon ito ng masinsinang pag-uusap kasama ang Lolo nito. They talked about what Andres Emilio wanted in life. They talked about personal and serious things. Eventually, as what she always knew, Samuel the third being a good old man, understood and respected Lio's decision and passion. He allowed him to backout from politics in order to finally do what he is passionate about. The old man, including all his family members, supported Emilio.
