“Well, you look… hotter. Which I guess it’s good. But, on the flip side, in this school there are boys” Ethan argued.
“Boys, like you?” I laughed at what he had just said.
He gave me a sheepish look. “Yea” he said ashamed with himself.
I rolled my eyes at him. “So where are we right now? I mean you did flirt with me, madly” my cheeks tinted a pink at the thoughts of the past days.
“I don’t know. I mean we’ve been friends for like nine years. Maybe change would be good?” he shrugged, getting out of our head on eye view of each other.
I couldn’t believe my ears. “What? You want change in our friendship?! What kind of change?” I could feel my blood boiling in confusion and fear.
“I don’t know” he took a pause, studying my features. “Maybe like more than friends” he suggested with a small smile.
Oh no! What happened to MY ETHAN! THIS ETHAN was different. HE didn’t want to be my friend anymore. Why?
I gave him a look of disgust. I didn’t want him anything but a friend. Why was that so hard to understand?
His sudden reaction was hurt and pain flashing on his perfect features.
“No” I said, shaking my head. “You’re my best friend. What happen to that Ethan that was awkward around girls … and didn’t want cooties?!” I was shouting now. Hoping this was a dream or a nightmare.
He laughed at my remark. Probably remembering old time. “People change, Daisy?” it was more like a question. Because he knew he was going to break my heart if he said something, I wouldn’t like.
Except that remark did break my heart.
“Oh, yea?” I said putting my best smile without looking like I was about to cry. “Well I guess I didn’t” I said running at him.
See when we were younger, I would tackle Ethan to the ground when ever I thought something was unfair. Like when we wanted to play different games, we would tackle each other to the ground, to see who winned. Sometimes I won or he did. Something I took pride in doing to Ethan.
I jumped on his back as he turned around to turn the corner. He could see, exactly what I was about to do. Or at least remembered.
“I HATE YOU RIGHT NOW ETHAN JEFFERSON!!!” I yelled pounding on his chest, while putting my legs around his waist to keep myself glued to him, so I didn’t fall flat on my butt.
Good thing today I was wearing jeans. So loved jean days.
“DAISY!” Ethan hissed in annoyance.
“FINE WE DON’T HAVE TO BE FRIENDS! BUT I AM NOT GOING TO BE A ONE NIGHT STAND OR YOUR GIRLFRIEND!!!!” I practically yelled into his poor ear. But hey, he was a jerk who commited to being a player. And me and players don’t go so well.
“You’re lying! You totally want me!” Ethan defended, while under my attacks of hitting his head.
Ah! What a jerk! A conceited, big ego, jerk!
He was spinning around so either I would get dizzy or I would fly off of him. Which neither was going to happen as I glued myself to his back.
I could see stares being given throughout the hallways, in all directions. But, one face made me shrink behind Ethan’s head.
“You two! In my office now!”
