TYLER

As soon as I took off my mask, Ethan's scent hit me like a ton of bricks again. But his exposed flesh from the previous time I had bitten him made his scent even stronger than before. But I had to overcome this. I had to prove to Ethan and the others that I would no longer hurt him.

I could see the nervous look in Ethan's eyes as he saw me look at him. It kept giving me flashbacks of when I had attacked him, and his cries for me to stop still haunted my mind.

"It's okay, Ethan." I assured him, trying not to stutter. "I'm doing this to show you that I am no longer going to hurt you. I am actually going to try and overcome this."
"I-I appreciate it." Ethan told me. "But don't you think you should wait and take it one step at a time?"
"I can't wait." I told him. "The sooner I can overcome your scent, the sooner I can finally be with you and the others."
"I hate to admit it, but it doesn't work that way." Ethan explained. "A scent never changes on a human, and neither does a ghoul's appetite for that scent."

I could suddenly feel my heart drop and the hope I had before suddenly begin to fade away. So all this motivation to try and overcome Ethan's scent, all this time I had spent with Dr. Morgan trying to figure out other ways to overcome Ethan's scent, was for nothing?

"So... you're saying I will never be able to overcome your scent?" I asked. "I'm basically going to be trapped the rest of my life trying not to attack you again?"
"I mean, you're technically not one-hundred percent ghoul, so it could be different for you." Ethan shrugged. "But when I was a ghoul, there were only a few scents that really challenged me to resist feeding from humans." Ethan then looked at me. "One of them being you, when you were human."
"So you're I can really only try and resist feeding off of you then?" I asked.
"Pretty much." Ethan said. "And you're doing a pretty good job so far, considering you haven't bitten me again just yet."
I couldn't help but let out a chuckle, "I just find that so weird. When you were a ghoul, you liked my scent, and now that I'm a ghoul I like your scent."
"Yeah... yeah that is weird." Ethan said with a smile.

Suddenly, my smile dropped and my heart began racing again as we had mentioned that. It is really weird that both of us were attracted to each other's scent. I know I don't really know what my scent was like to Ethan when I was a human, but what if in a way, ours is similar to one another? Is that even possible?

But before I could even ask Ethan anything else, I could hear Dr. Morgan talking behind me.

"Alright, Mr. Scheid. I think we've had enough time in here for you to prove your point." Dr. Morgan said. "But I think we should leave as soon as possible before you suddenly snap again."

I grew aggravated, knowing I wouldn't be able to ask Ethan anything now. But I just sighed and nodded as I put my mask on and followed Dr. Morgan out of the door.

MARK

Dr. Carson and the rest of us waited outside in the hallway.

"I apologize for that unexpected moment." Dr. Carson said. "Mr. Scheid was supposed to stay downstairs until we approved of him to see Mr. Nestor."
"We understand." I said. "But could you please stop addressing them by their last names and just call them Ethan and Tyler?"
"I apologize." Dr. Carson responded. "But unless the patient asks me to call him by his first name, I must act professional and call him by his last name."
"Greeaatt..." I sighed, rolling my eyes.

The door to Ethan's room suddenly opened and both Tyler and Dr. Morgan both left and went down the hall. Dr. Morgan glanced over at Dr. Carson before continuing down the hall. We all quickly gathered up in Ethan's room.

"Did anything happen?" Amy asked.
"No... everything was fine." Ethan told us. "He... actually took off his mask... and he resisted my scent."

We all looked at each other in surprise. Amy and Kathryn couldn't help but smile in relief.

"Well, while today's unexpected confrontation seemed to be successful, it still doesn't mean anything yet." Dr. Carson said. "We have to keep track of Mr. Scheid's every movement and reaction to further confirm that it is working."

I leaned in next to Ethan, "Could you please tell him to just call you guys by your first names?" I whispered.
Ethan laughed, "Okay."
I smiled back, patting his shoulder, "Thanks dude."

TYLER

Dr. Morgan and I walked downstairs and into my room. A sense of satisfaction came over me as I was able to resist Ethan's scent, but the conversation him and I had before I had to leave was still stuck in my head.

"Well, I consider that a bit of a success." Dr. Morgan said. "A couple more scheduled tests with that and you may actually be okay to go."
I smiled, "Thank you, Doctor."

I watched as Dr. Morgan made his way out of the room. This was the chance to try and get an answer from him since I couldn't get it out of Ethan. Before he could leave the room, I spoke up.

"Hey, Dr. Morgan." I began. He looked over to me.
He sighed, "I think I know what this is about."
I raised an eyebrow, "You do?"
"You clearly know I took you out for a reason." Dr. Morgan stated. "And it's not because I was afraid that you would suddenly attack Ethan."
"It was about the conversation we were having, wasn't it?" I asked.

Dr. Morgan made his way across the room and towards me, leaning down so we were inches apart from each other.

"I should not say what I am about to say to you." He whispered. "So you better swear to me that you will not tell anybody else about this."

I suddenly grew nervous, regretting even saying anything to him. But I nodded. I came this far with him, might as well get it done and over with.

Dr. Morgan sighed.

"The reason why both of your scents are so similar... is because Ethan is currently living through your human blood."
