CHAPTER 11 (Negative to negative gives me a positive feedback)

CHAPTER 11

“Dehydration, over-fatigue and dengue and meron sayo ngayon, Alyssa. Make sure to take good care of yout body. Buti na lang naagapan ang dengue mo. Make sure to drink lots of water and eat healthy meals. Napakapayat mo.” Dr. Jung said as she changed my dextrose.

“You don’t eat much, and smoker ka, right? Please stop smoking, Alyssa. You’re not getting nutrients and toxic ang pumapasok sa katawan mo.”

I glanced at my side to find my mother talking to Tito Ed. Lumapit si Tito Ed at nginitian ang intern na doctor. “You’re lucky, Alyssa. Number 1 sa internship admission examination si Dr. Alexa Jung dito. You’re in good hands, hija.” He winked at nagtawanan kami ng ni Dr. Jung. Lumabas na rin siya kasi tapos na niya ako i-check.

At the couch on my right is a sleeping Christian Falcon. I looked at his face. He got this beautiful feature on his face that makes you drawn to him like a magnet.

“Anak, ano ba ang nangyayari sayo? Dapat talaga bumalik ka na sa bahay eh.” Mom said as she peeled the apples.

“Ma, sobrang pagod lang talaga. Don’t worry last na ‘to. I won’t get sick.” I smiled at her and reached for my phone on the side table.

“Ang dami ko na palang emails na dapat sagutin. Ma, kailangan ko ang laptop na nasa unit ko. Ma, can you ask the driver to get it?”

“No, because you’re not working. Anak, please rest for a while. You need to break free from stress. Your kuya Felix will be home next week Wednesday. Malulungkot yun pag nakita ka dito.”

“I know. By the way bakit nadyan si… Christot sa tabi?”

“Oh, he stayed here overnight. Hindi talaga siya umuwi para bantayan ka. Absent yan ngayon para lang mabantayan ka. He won’t leave until makita niyang okay ka na.”

My heart skipped a beat. Alam kong naglipana na naman ang mga paru-paro sa tiyan ko. Nakakaasar kasi kahit gustong-gusto ko siyang awayin, sigawan o itulak palayo, mahirap. My heart yearns for his affection.

“Ma, I think you should ask him to go home para makatulog nang maayos.”

“You know, last night he was so worried he kept asking the female doctor earlier. Sobrang nag-alala talaga siya sayo. Tell me, wala ba talaga kayong relasyon?”

“M-mom, wala. He’s already taken and besides, magkababata kami. We don’t fit.”

“Oh sige, sabi mo eh. I’m just telling you what I see. He’s clearly smitten with you, not just smitten but something deeper. I saw it last night.”

“Mom, nothing is going on between us. Imagination mo lang ang lahat.”

“Oh sige, bili lang muna ako ng soft drinks. Nauuhaw ako eh. Mamaya mo na gisingin yan kasi sigurado akong inaantok yan.”

“O-okay.”

Mom left and close the door. Biglang kumalabog ang dibdib ko sa kaba. Once again, we’re in the same room. We’re alone.

I can hear his breathing, and it sounds like a melody in my ears. Gustong-gusto ko na nasa malapit lang siya. I want to spend my whole day staring at his lovely face.

I checked my phone. Madami palang tumawag. I felt Christian’s stare because he’s already awake. He stood up and looked at me in the softest way. He sat on the bed and eventually lied down with me. He embraced me with his toned arms.

He’s sniffing my hair. He hugged me even tighter.

“Wag… mo nang gawin ‘to, Christian. Didn’t you already know that I’m sick because I tried dodging my feelings for you? Aware ka naman siguro, pero bakit mo pa ginagawa?”
