mean girls & fake friends

life goes on
you said to your self
as you tried not to care
you told yourself to do anything
but look over there.

were they sat in their little group
looking over at you and talking shit
it hurt you
way more than you cared to admit.

you didn't know what to do
or what to say
so you just fake smiled
and looked away.

you didn't know why she didn't like you
or why she was so mean
she just hated you for no reason
and thought she was a fucking queen.

it pissed you off
you wanted to yell
but you knew you'd never do anything
other than tell.

and when you told
it made you feel bold.

until they told you not to
until they told you to back off
until they told you to let it go.

even though they knew what she said
even though they knew it wasn't ok.

they told you to turn the other cheek
they told you to step away.
you didn't know what to say to them
it was like you had forgotten how to speak
this whole situation made you feel so freaking weak.

you thought they were your friends
you thought they cared
and they said they did
and claimed they were scared.

you tried to believe them
but your head was clouded with disbelief
when they sent continuous apologizes
it came as a big relief.

so maybe they did care
maybe they were just afraid
but when she confronted you
why hadn't they come to your aid?

when she came up to you
she might've just as well slapped you in the face
you didn't say anything back
you just looked away like a fucking disgrace

you couldn't stop thinking about it
it haunted you to this day
how your so called friends acted like they didn't know you and had just looked the other way.

it really hurt because you really liked them
and you thought they liked you too
but you thought wrong,
at least now you knew.

they could've at least asked if you were ok
they could've made you feel better instead of just looking away....

you tried to forget about it
you tried to smile
and it worked for a while

but it kept coming back to you
and you tried to ignore it
to get it out of your mind
to leave all the bad thoughts behind

to focus on the good
to focus on the people that cared
the people that asked if you were ok
the ones that made you feel less scared.

the ones that made you feel less alone
the ones that made you feel like you mattered.

now you knew who your real friends were
the ones that didn't act like nothing happened
the ones that acknowledged you and your existence
you admired them and their persistence

getting you to talk about your feelings was a hard task
they would have to ask and ask

and as for the girl
you and her would just have to coexist
if she ever tried to start a fight
you would say no
even if she did insist
you would never raise a fist
you would only resist
people like her would never be missed
you just wanted her to be dismissed

because it was people like her
that caused you anxiety
and made you feel like you were worthless
to this entire society.

and you knew that wasn't true
but she still made you feel bad
and you hated the impact that she had
so you tried to be glad
but you couldn't and that made you feel mad.

why'd you let her get to you
why did you care
you wished she would just vanish
and turn into thin air.

lesson of the day is that mean girls are mean
and fake friends are fake
and that everyone in high school
is just another fucking snake.
