First Encounter

When I first saw her, she didn't stand out
She was just a cogwheel in society's
Restlessly working machinery.

Her outer appearance was basic as fuck,
So perfectly normal, thank you very much,
Petunia would turn green from envy.

But when she proceeded to open her mouth,
So delicate and petite was the sound,
But the words she spoke, left me speechless.

This was undoubtedly the worst joke I've heard
And followed by my enthusiastic laugh.
She was so not basic and lame.

I wish, that I could have prevented my laugh,
As it makes obvious, that I eavesdropped
On the conversation next to me.

She will know, that I'm lonely and I have no friends.
Why else would I chill here alone at the bar?
Eavesdropping, unintegrated.

When she turned around and looked at me oddly,
I simply wished to disappear on the spot.
The reaction that followed, bedazzled me.

Her smile grew wide and her eyes seemed to sparkle.
A sparkle, that set my heart on fire.
A sparkle, that captured my soul.

The realisation came crashing down.
Even though she was female like me,
I was head over heels in love with her.
