EDSA

289 13 11

We are but the birds,
If caged, will long the sky.
We are but hungry,
Longing for the freedom lost.

Our burnt wings
We will reform
From the ashes
Of their cruelty.

We will rise
As Golden Phoenixes,
Rebirth to claim
What is rightfully ours.

If small sparks
Of yellow flames gather,
The magnitude of power
Rivals that of the sun.

This free verse poem is a tribute to a very historic event in the Phillipines, The EDSA Revolution. Google pictures, they're lovely.
