Two weeks later....

Becca's POV

Walking off the stage after soundcheck, I idly rubbed that my throat. It had been scratchy since yesterday and getting sick was the last thing I needed at the start of my first tour. A flash caught my eye as I lowered my hand. The diamond band nestled against my engagement ring making me smile. I thought back to the sunset on the beach two weeks ago. A simple ceremony with just Brantley and Amber as witnesses. It had been perfect. B had been reminding me for two days that we had to come clean soon. I knew we did. We could possibly hold off on making a public announcement for a bit but telling the rest of our family couldn't wait much longer.

Glancing at my watch, I knew PJ should be getting back from the airport soon from picking up Chase. He'd had a show last night but was flying in for my first one tonight. I made my way outside to the bus hoping I had time for a quick nap before I needed to get ready. I was unlocking my bus when hurried footsteps caught my ears right before a series of car doors slammed. Glancing over my shoulder, my eyes narrowed at the sight of my now husband running as fast as his long legs would go getting to me. I gasped turning around thinking something was majorly wrong as fear turned my stomach. Chase dove behind me wrapping his arms around my waist holding on for dear life.

"What in the hell is wrong with you?" I grumbled slightly irritated that he was worrying me. I glanced over my shoulder seeing the fear in his blue eyes. That's when I heard it.

"BECCA LYNN GILBERT!" my mama roared. I paled feeling my own body start to tremble. I saw Brantley walking off his bus lighting a cigarette with a smart ass smile on his face as Mama walked closer with her hands on her hips. PJ was doing everything he could not to laugh.

"Pretty sure it's not Gilbert anymore Mama," Brantley chuckled. I flipped him off then shrunk back into Chase's chest seeing her eyes narrow at me. Another car door slamming made Chase groan dropping his head down onto my shoulder. Connie stalked over mirroring Mama's pose. I shouldn't have been surprised. "Told you that you needed to fess up sis!"

"Kiss my ass B!" I snapped glaring at him. "You knew. I could throw you under the bus too."

"What do you mean he knew?" Mama growled turning her attention to her eldest born making me grin. Ha! Take that B. She walked closer poking a nail into his sweatshirt covered chest. "You knew she had gotten married! I had to find out from a fan photo that hit social media today! Someone got a good up-close picture of a ring on Chase's left hand last night at his show!"

"One thing that y'all got married," Connie chimed in glaring at all three of us. PJ at this point was almost on the ground laughing at the three of us shuffling our feet like little kids. "But another not to tell us."

"I got ambushed on the way from the airport by your mama," Chase murmured in my ear. I sighed nodding my head. Linking my hands with his on my waist, I rubbed my thumb along the smooth titanium of his wedding band. I felt his body relax against mine both of us feeling a little more settled despite the reprimands coming our way. I jerked my head up meeting the fierce glares of both of our mothers head on. I loved them dearly but enough was enough.

"That's it!" I snapped making both of them stop mid rant. I may get my ass beat but I wasn't listening to anymore. I softened my tone before speaking again. "Listen, I am sorry y'all found out this way. No, we were not purposely hiding it. Would y'all please put yourselves in our shoes? Think about the schedules and things we have to deal with. Brantley gets it yes, but that is just on his end. Chase and I have it double. And when it came down to trying to find a date, I just couldn't see how we could fit it in. Let alone me having the time to plan a wedding, record a full album, and tour. I rather spend my time off with him or y'all. My family, including my husband, mean more than that to me. So yes, we up at did it. Then spent what little time we had left before getting busy together. We spent enough time apart the last few years. When it came down to it, neither of us wanted to wait any longer."

I saw the hardness in both of their eyes start to ease. Brantley gave me a wink. I hadn't wanted the big hoopla connected with a wedding. I had gotten the ending I wanted. I was married to the man who loved me so deeply I didn't understand how I thought I could have lived without it. I turned around in Chase's arms tugging his lips down to mine tuning anything else out. I gave my brother a thumbs up when I heard him chime in.

"See Mama," Brantley laughed. "She's happy. Leave her alone. Hell if it will make you and Connie feel better we can throw them a big ass party to celebrate. Besides, both of you will forget y'all were even mad as soon as they give y'all another grandbaby to spoil."

"Your brother is probably right," Chase murmured against my lips making me giggle. He lifted his head giving me a wide smile. "So Mrs. Rice, what do you want to do for the rest of our lives?"

"I can think of a thing or two," I whispered fisting my hands in his shirt pushing him towards my bus. "Starting with this."
