“Do you want to end your little show?” Tanong ko. Sigurado akong kakagatin niya ang alok ko.

Unti-unti siyang napatango dahilan ng paglawak ng ngisi ko. “Of course. But how?”

“I want you to do something for me.” Saad ko.

She nodded again. Napatingin siya sa paligid. “Can we talk somewhere far? Baka naririnig nila ang usapan natin.” Muling napadako ang paningin niya sa mga taong dumadaan sa harap namin.

“Sure.” Umalis ako sa pagkakasandal sa pinto ng locker at tumayo ng diretso. Nagsimula na akong maglakad. I knew that she’s following my lead. I am the boss here and she should obey me. She’s just one of the pieces I’m using.

Malayo-layo din ang nilakad namin. Wala akong makitang bakanteng classroom. Masyado ding crowded ang hallways kaya hindi kami pwedeng mag-usap doon. Nagpatuloy ako sa paglalakad hanggang sa pamunta ako sa faculty area. Napahinto ang mga paa ko sa baba ng hagdan, tabi ng faculty room kung saan wala masyadong dumadaan na estudyante. Sumandal ako sa putting pader at hinarap si Jana.

“Imagine you are reading a fairytale book with all those castles, stupid princes and princesses. What do you think the first sentence the author wrote?” I asked while folding my arms.

Napaisip siya. She’s really pretty. Her face is angelic but people don’t know that behind those pretty face is a girl who is willing to do anything for someone she loves. She lets me used her to protect her love. Love sucks, I know.

Tumingin siya sa akin ng may pagtataka. Napataas ang kilay ko.

“Once upon a time..”Wika niya.

Napangisi ako. “Once upon a time, there’s this princess who fell in love with a prince.” Panimula ko ng kwento. “The thing is the so called prince was a jerk. She didn’t know that all along, he is in love with someone else. When she found out, she tried to destroy herself. Her sister, her evil of a sister wasn’t happy about it. She wanted revenge and you..” Turo ko sa kaniya. Nagtataka niya akong binalingan. Alam kong wala siyang ni katiting na ideya sa mga sinasabi ko. “You are what they say as Fairy Godmother. I want you to give the princess a very happy ending.” Utas ko.

“Ah.. h-how?” There was a glint of uncertainty on her eyes.

“How?” Mataray na tanong ko. “On Wednesday, this jerk prince will ask you in front of a huge horde. He will ask you to be his girlfriend.”

Napatanga siya. Nanlaki ang mga mata at sunod-sunod na napailing. “That jerk is.. M-Miguel?” Hindi makapaniwalang tanong niya.

I nodded. “Sinabi ko na sayo para hindi ka magulat sa Miyerkules. Dang, I hate surprises!”

“Anong gusto mong gawin ko?”

I smirked. “Ang tanong dito, Jana: ano ang gagawin mo?” Napatitig lang siya sa akin. “Let’s say it’s Wednesday already. You are standing in the middle of the soccer field. Maraming tao ang nakapalibot sayo at masaya kayong pinagmamasdan. In front of you, on his knees, is your suitor for almost a year. He was holding a bunch of red roses and asking to be your girlfriend.  Being Jana Angeli Constantino, what will you do?” I asked her while raising my eyebrow. Ano kaya ang gagawin niya? Will she say yes? Para pagtakpan ang lahat. Or will she say no?
