"You did what?" Sophie screeches in an excited tone on the other end of our phone call.

"We kissed!" I say again, smiling as I talk to her.

"Taylor, this is so cute! I'm so setting you guys up." She insists.

"No! Oh my god, no way." I laugh.

"Why?" She asks, giggling.

"Because, I don't know.. Maybe if he wasn't such a jerk sometimes things would work out. But I just can't trust him right now, Sophie. Maybe the kiss was a mistake.." I sigh.

"Maybe if he wasn't so darn complicated" Sophie agrees.

"I know right?"

"It's still cute." She giggles.

I laugh, "I better go, I have to shower." I say.

"Okay, talk soon, Taylor!" She says.

"Bye!" I say.

We both end the call in sync.

I like having someone to talk to, like Sophie.

I get off my bed and walk to my bathroom.

I turn the hot water on and wait for my shower to heat up while I undress.

I'm not sure if it's just me, but the shower is where I think about and sort out most of my problems.

I get in and shiver when the hot water touches my body for the first time.

I stand there, thinking for almost an hour when my shower goes into auto-stop mode and switches itself off.

I get out and wrap a towel around me so I can dry.

I sit by my bed and pick up my phone.

Before I can even unlock it, I can see I have two missed calls from Sophie.

I unlock my phone and dial her number, waiting for her to answer.

"Taylor?" She finally speaks up at the other end of the phone.

"Hey, were you calling me?" I ask.

"Yeah, I was wondering if you'd like to come to the beach later with Cam and I?" She asks.

I hesitate.

"Yeah, uhm -sure. What time are we going?" I ask.

"I'll call over to your place in an hour?" She suggests.

"See you then." I say.

I end the call.

I'm not overly excited about the beach. I used to live right next to one back when I was a kid.

It's nothing special to me, really.

I suppose it's a way to spend time with my friends, though.

I walk to my closet and take out my baby blue strapless bikini.

It's been my favourite for over a year now.

I put it on and pull a plain white crop top over it with denim shorts and sandals.

My hair is still wet and wavy, so I leave it down.

Before I know it Sophie is over at my house.

She gives two little knocks on my bedroom door before entering.

"Hey" she says, letting herself in.

"Hey" I say, smiling.

"You look nice" Sophie says.
