CHAPTER TWO

Zainab (Diddi) and Amina (Inna) are
neighbors in Yola, Adamawa State
where they hail from. Their parents
are more like relatives than
neighbors. Amina is a 300L student of
English Language while Diddi is in
200L, Mass Communication at the
prestigious Ahmadu Bello University,
Zaria. They stay off campus all thanks
to 'lover boy' Aliyu who doesn't want
his "boddoji" (Zainab) to stay in
hostel because she has infection (they
treated it in their first year of
marriage). The friendship between
them started when Diddi got
admission to study in the university
and the only person she knows there
as of that time was Inna, her parents
neighbors and because she doesn't
stay with her parents, she hardly
enters the neighbors house but since
she has no option she entered and
that's how their friendship began
even though Diddi has zurfin ciki
while Inna is the talkative, their
friendship is one to admire.

The ringing of her phone woke her
her up and she checked to see her
Goggo (fathers sister in Fulani) who is
more like a mother to her because she grew up under her care. She
received the call of the ever jovial
woman who hardly frowns, they
chatted a bit before the old woman
cleared her throat and said "gaji am
vi waran ha ma jango"(my last born
said he's coming to your place
tomorrow) so please get ready and
give him another chance barkantejo
am (my blessed one), you guys need
to talk she continued in fulfulde. A
lone tear escaped Diddi's eyes, why
cant they just leave her alone? she
wont allow anyone make her do what
they want, she's tired of sacrificing
her happiness for people that don't
appreciate it, why can't they at least
for once understand her and let her
chose what she wants herself. "Can
you here me my dear?" the older
woman asked, she even forgot she
was on the line. "yes Goggo I've heard
you, we'll meet tomorrow in shaa
Allah, regards to everyone and bye"
she ended the call without waiting
for her anty to speak.

She
immediately dialled a number saved
as Aliyu Ishaq and the person
immediately picked the call without
allowing it to even ring properly as if
he has been waiting for the call
"boddoji should I call you back?" he
said sweetly, she hissed loud for him
to hear before saying "you know i
don't have your time, I called to
inform you that your mum called and
as you wish she asked me to meet you
to which I agreed and I want you to
put it at the back of your thick skull
in fact I want it to circulate round
your thick skull that this will in shaa
Allah be our last meeting, I don't
want anything to do with you, the
mere sight of you gives me serious
headache as you used to say before
that seeing me makes you want to
puke out well am glad to inform you
that the same is happening to me
now, you irritate me. If you really
want us to meet you better come
around 12pm anything after 1 I wont
meet you" with that she pressed the
phone to end the call and started
crying profusely.

Pheeeew! and I thought writing a story was easy. Amira Julde sorry for all I've said about you not updating🙈

*Gaji in fulfulde means last born just like 'auta' in Hausa.
