A/N: this is a request I got in a while ago and due to computer issues couldn't finish until now, unfortunately I can't find the message from whoever requested it so who ever it is I hope you like it and sorry it took so long

"Agent (Y/L/N) I have a mission for you" Director Fury says walking over to me, "what is it sir?" I ask turning round to face him. "as you know we had a recent discovery in the artic, and we need you to be there when he wakes up" Fury explains, "when who wakes up?" I ask confused. "him" fury says simply passing me the file, I open the file and see who it was reading what they wanted me to do. "this isn't going to work, and it will make the shock even worse" I tell fury passing back the file, "you got a better idea agent?" fury asks me. "yes just let me go as I am and explain what's happening" I tell him crossing my arms, "fine but just don't give the old man a heart attack" fury smirks heading back out. I head out to the infirmary where I see the doctors working around captain America monitoring his vitals "how's he doing?" I ask one of the doctors. "its incredible we don't yet understand how he survived, his body is acting like he's just sleeping" the doctor says shaking his head in disbelief. "do you know when he's going to wake up" I ask him, "not sure, he's showing signs that he's waking up so at some point today we believe" he tells me. "okay when he wakes up I want everyone out of the room, only me I don't want to spook him" I tell him, "of course I'll let the others know" the doctor says heading into the room. I waited outside until the doctors gave me the signal to come in, "we think its going to be in the next couple hours or so now but if something happens we're just outside" the doctor says as I head in. I nod my head "of course thank you" I say moving to sit down in the chair next to his bed. In the couple hours or so I waited for him to wake up I just sat there studying him, you could tell just by the way he looked he was a good man, he just had that look to him. I noticed his hair was slightly ruffled and without giving it a second thought I brushed his hair gently so it was tidy, I felt him move ever so slightly at the motion. I pull my hand away and watch him to see if he was actually waking up. After a few minutes of silence and no movement I recline back in my chair since it didn't seem like he was waking up just yet. I glance around the room a notice a couple books on the side I pick up one and start reading getting into the book, "who are you?" I hear the captain ask. I look up from the booked startled "sorry, my name is (Y/N), I'm an agent here at SHIELD" I tell him putting the book down, he looks over at me confused "SHIELD?" he asks, "yes we're the good guys I promise" I tell him with a reassuring smile. He nods his head slowly "what happen to me?" he asks sitting up, "it's a long and complicated story, and it will be a shock" I tell him. He nods his head slightly "okay I think I have the time" he says with a small smile, I give him a small chuckle "well let me know if it gets to much" I tell him. "can't be that bad right" he asks with a small laugh, "depends on your definition" I smile. "right so what happened hit me with it" he smiles, "right okay, when you crashed the plane it got submerged in ice, and the current theory is that because of the serum your body was able to survive in a suspended state keeping you alive as the world moved on" I explain, "moved on?" he asks me confused. "its been nearly 70 years, the year is 2012" I tell him pausing so the information could sink in, he sighs looking around the room "are you okay" I ask him. He looks back over at me and nods his head slightly "yeah, I just... had a date" he sighs, "with peggy?" I ask him. He looks over at me shocked, "yeah how did you know?" he asks me, "she's a founding member and a friend, she told me about you occasionally" I tell him making him smile slightly. "is she...?" he start, "still alive? Yes, I'd be more than happy to organise I visit" I tell him, he smiles warmly "thank you, (Y/N)" he says. "its nothing and I'm more than happy to be your port of call when getting use to this new time" I tell him, "thank you (Y/N), I'm looking forward to getting to know you" he smiles, "well why don't we start now? What do you want to know?" I ask him. "how did you start working here at SHIELD?" he asks me, "well I have a special power, I'm able to teleport myself anywhere which is very helpful on missions" I tell him, he looks back at me shocked "I haven't scared you have I?" I ask him, "no not at all, seems like I've got a lot to learn" he smiles
