I'll run to you, all shaken up

the ride to the apartment complex was rather quiet, minho not question as to why the girl sat beside him wanted to go to his best friend's house and she didn't say a word. but he could sense the tension, and he could see how tense lalisa was.

she had been fidgeting with the hem of her shirt for minutes now, and her teeth gnawing slightly at her bottom lip. what happened? she repeatedly questioned in her mind, she could only imagine of how chaeyoung felt, and it was almost as if she could feel the pain even if they were apart right now.

"we're here." minho's voice snapped lalisa out of her troubled thoughts.

"thank you." she breathed out before taking clicking her belt off, opening the door wide and stepping out. she smiled wryly down at minho. "thank you for coming to look for me today."

"no, thank you for sparing me time." he thanked before leaning slightly onto the steering wheel of the car. "... but may I ask, what are you coming to do here at kibum's?"

the girl had let out a silent sigh beneath her breath. "his wife is my best friend, chaeyoung. I came to see her."

"let me walk you up there." minho suggested and lalisa was surprised to hear such an offer from the man.

the girl shook her head. "no! I mean — there's no such need." but minho insisted.

"I'm going to park the car." so persistent, the girl thought wryly before nodding her head and giving up. there were times that whenever some people insisted on something too much, a no wouldn't suffice — they would do it anyway.

he had told her to wait right where she stood as he drove away and a few minutes later, the male showed up and they both walked inside.

they bowed to the receptionist, who seemed to recognize them both and having lalisa surprised. and when they walked into the elevator, she turned to him curiously.

"are you friends with kibum and chaeyoung?" she asked.

minho reajustes his tie loosely and leaning onto the elevator mirror. "I have been friends with kibum since our high school days." he explained. "and I've known chaeyoung since the first time they met, I was there."

"the world sure is a small place..." lalisa couldn't help but murmur that out.

"what?" minho didn't catch what she said.

she raised her hands and waved them lightly. "I've known chaeyoung since we were kids, I just found it funny how we both still have some sort of connection." the female realised and giggled, finding some sort of fun in it.

the taller man looked up in thought before nodding his head in agreement but unlike lalisa, he didn't laugh. "I guess..."

and both of them had gone quiet at the same time.

but luckily, the elevator bell rang once and the doors opened. it was then that the thought of worry came back to the girl and lalisa was the first one to exit the elevator and quickly make her way to kibum and chaeyoung's apartment door.

she knocked on it at first before ringing the bell, minho stood behind her and looked down at her expression. eyes widening slightly when seeing the expression that tugged her features, they way she frowned made him question what had been wrong.

the door opened and revealing kibum, who had his hair up in a slight mess and he breathed out in relief when seeing his wife's best friend standing there.

"lisa," he breathed out and opened the door wider, and he then took notice of the male standing behind her. "minho?"

"hey." he casually greeted. "I just brought lalisa here." slowly, kibum nodded before turning back to the younger girl in between them and sighing.

"she's in our room..."

"what happened?"

it seemed as if a shadow was cast on half of kibum's face, lalisa noticed the way he bit his lips in hesitance before parting them. "she told us to divorce..."

the tension in the room intensified. "again? but —"

"this time she came on stronger." reveals the male, finally looking up and both minho and lalisa, and they noticed how there was a mixture of anger and sadness in his eyes. "... she said she wanted to introduce me to someone."

it seemed as if something alarmed inside lalisa, she quickly excused herself and quickly walked towards chaeyoung's room, past many doors until reaching it. and when she did, hesitance made her stop for a second until shaking it away and knocking on the door.

"... chaeyoung?" she softly called out before twisting the doorknob and letting herself. "chaeyoung..."

in the dark room, said girl was nowhere to be seen until lalisa caught sight of dark brown hair on the other side of the bed and clearly placed in between knees. the younger girl frowned sadly at the sight and quietly approached chaeyoung.

upon walking around the bed, she saw that her best friend was sat on the ground, wearing a the wine purple sweater dress that she remembers giving to her on her anniversary with kibum. it was clear how her fingers tightly gripped onto the material of it and even more when feeling the younger's presence getting closer.

as she kneeled down beside chaeyoung, lalisa slowly placed her hand onto the female's shoulder. "hey..." she called out in a whisper. "talk to me." with her other hand, she ran her fingers through the long, dark tresses.

her shoulders trembled and her arms hugged her knees tighter, chaeyoung tried to shrink herself further. "...I... after all these years, I am still not worth it..." she cried silently.

lalisa hugged the girl to her chest, gently bringing her head to rest on her shoulder as she knew that when she cried, she'd want nobody to see her that way. her arms quickly went around her best friend's waist as she cried further. "she hates me so much to the point she wouldn't want me with her son — I get that! but to say right to my face she would be introducing him to someone new?!"

"I don't get it... lisa, i don't get it... all I ask for is for a peaceful relationship, why does she hate me so much..." chaeyoung sobbed and gripped onto lalisa. "I love kibum so much, to see him with someone else would hurt me so much."

"I know, chaeng, I know." cooed the younger girl. "kibum too, he loves you so much, he wouldn't change you for anything in the world, be it another woman or even anything more — he wouldn't change his love for you and I am sure." lalisa caressed her back gently.

"everything is going to get solved, I am sure kibum is going to solve this with his mother but chaeyoung — he's going to need you to be strong, stand there beside him as he solves this. because he's going to go against his family for you. and it's not going easy."

"I know — "

the girl finally raised her head from her best friend's shoulder. lalisa could see how swoller her eyes were from crying and how flushed her cheeks were. "you're also going to have to stand up for yourself, too. you need to prove yourself to his mother, she doesn't see you as relevant, prove that you are. can you do that?"

and hesitantly, slowly, the girl nodded her head, wiping her tears away as much as she could. but still letting out a few every now and then.

after cradling the girl in her arms for a few minutes, she raised the both of them into the bed and noticed how chaeyoung's eyes were closed and soft breaths leaving her lips. lalisa found herself smiling as she placed her body gently onto the mattress, trying her best to do everything without having her friend wake up.

and when making sure she tucked in, with a smile and a soft sigh, she exited the room.
