After the police statement, Ryder suggests we get something good to eat to take my mind off of the heavy conversation. Ash heartily agrees and we decide to go to IHOP for brunch.
I decide on French toast, while the boys order eggs and potatoes and stacks of pancakes. I soak in the feeling of sitting with them at the table. Ryder catches my gaze and smiles at me with deep emotion.
I could get used to this.
"Hey Lyssy," Ash says through a mouthful of pancake, "we should go to Ikea, set up your room for you."
"No, that's not necessary," I say shaking my head and throwing another piece of French toast into my mouth.
"Ryder, tell her she needs to agree," he says swallowing and pointing his fork at him.
"Yeah, Lys, you should set up your room. I saw the amount of testosterone in that room. You need something girly."
I roll my eyes at both of them ganging up on me and agree with an annoyed "fine" before drowning the last of my food in more syrup.
