"Patton please open the door?" I could hear Logan knocking, but I didn't really feel like getting off the bed. I've been a mess since that day with Virgil. I thought my son was going to come back, but he didn't. He was hurting I could tell but everyone was... We were all trying to get him to listen. He didn't need to listen. He needed to feel. He needed... "Patton, please. You haven't eaten in... Just please Patton open up."

I don't see what the big deal is we don't need to eat. I don't eat much anyway. Usually, I just get just a meal a day if I can help it. No real reason why, it's just I'm never hungry. I pull the covers off of me and just stared at the ceiling. How long has it been? A week, a month, more? It's so quiet without him here. I haven't even heard Roman. Maybe I should check on him... No, I should just stay in bed.

"Patton, please. You don't have to eat just... open the door." Logan was crying. I threw the covers off and ran straight to the door. I threw it open to find Logan standing there about to knock again with tears streaming down his face. He blinked his eyes and then slammed me into a hug. "Please don't ever lock me out again."

"I'm sorry Lo. I won't do it again. You're to a-door-able to let be upset."

"Do you promise?"

"Please don't leave me. I'm scared."

"I won't. You can count on me Anx. I'll never leave you."

"Do you promise dad?"

"I promise son."

My heart starting hurting again as my own tears started to fall. I just went back into bed and laid down, grabbing the covers as I did. The world outside just hurt too much. Once again I can't keep my promises to Virgil. He's all alone in the castle, days away from here. What am I supposed to do now?

"Hun? You have to talk to me." Logan sat down on the bed next to me. I couldn't even move everything was just getting quiet and now... It's loud again. "It's ok, don't push yourself."

Logan went to the other side of the bed and laid down pulling me into him as he rubbed my back continuously. I laid there for what felt like hours until Logan started to quietly snore in my ear. I smiled and carefully pulled myself from his embrace, grabbing one of my dog stuffies and placing it in my place. That way we can still snuggle with something. Good job Patton.

I glanced at the clock and internally groaned. I started for the door when the room started spinning and I had to grab on to the desk, as to not fall and wake up Logan. He's right I should eat. I just don't know if I can. Walking out of the room, was hard. Virgil's room was next to mine, and the thoughts from earlier just kept coming back. When I got into the kitchen the place was spotless, and I mean spotless. Logan must have been trying to keep himself busy. I can't believe I did this to him again!

I opened the fridge and felt guilty right away. Tubs and tubs of food all labeled for me filled it to the brim. None of it ever touched, and most of it spoiled. I grabbed the bread and put a piece in the toaster. I sat at the table and prayed for anything to keep me from my thoughts.

"Hey... Pat. I, uh, haven't seen you for a while." Roman! Thank god...

"Hey, there kiddo. Sorry about that. I was a little burnt out." I said as the toast popped up a little too blackened for my liking. " How have you been?"

"Training... I've been training for the past month."

"Oh right... What day is it? I'm afraid the old noggin clocked out. I haven't bothered to check." Roman smiled softly and he checked his watch. I got that for him for his last birthday. It told the time, date, and day of the week. I got it for him as a joke but he seemed to really like it so it made me happy.

"Thursday, April 26th." Oh... I hadn't realized it was that close. Another one with all my kids, I'm not sure I even want to have one. "Patton?"

"Sorry, I should really watch that... shouldn't I?" Roman chuckled a little and left to train more. At least that's what he told me. I got up, grabbed the toast, and threw in the trash. I wasn't going to be able to eat it anyway.  I just sighed and walked back to my room, stopping at the door. I looked over at Virgil's and I felt myself start moving again. Soon enough, I was opening his door and walking inside. All his stuff was still here and the place had been fixed, but it still felt broken without him.

"Hey, dad look at this."

"What is it?"

"What do you mean? It's you and me and Roman and Logan."

"Did Roman give you his crayons?"

"Yep. Do you like it?"

"Like it, Love it!"

Tears began to fall again and so I just laid myself on Virgil's bed wrapping myself in his blanket. the one I had given him.

"What's this?"

"It's a birthday gift Anx."

"For me?"

"Of course silly."

"Well, what is it?"

"You have to open it."

"A blanket?"

"It's a magic blanket. I got one when I was your age. When you make it, you put all your love into each stitch. That way it can give the person you give it to all the best luck in the world."

"But dad if you put all your love into the blanket you won't have any left to give."

"Don't worry Anx, If there is one thing I won't ever run out of, it's my love for my sons."

I buried myself farther into his blankets as the thoughts kept coming, falling asleep to the memory of that day.

"I just want to see my son again."

"YOUR SON? Your son? Oh, Patton, he was never your son."
