Chapter 19: The Cupid Dance

[Gym, Atenamal Regional High, 8:11 PM, This]

VICTORIA: "Do I look okay?"

OSCAR: "Yeah."

VICTORIA: "Are you sure? My hair matches my dress, right?"

OSCAR: "Your hair is brown... your dress is red..."

VICTORIA: "Not the colour, you dumby. You know what - forget it. I look good. Right? I look good."

OSCAR: "You look good."

VICTORIA: "Thanks." (takes his arm and starts to walk in) "Are you sure?"

...

[Gym, Atenamal Regional High, 8:16 PM, Can't]

(Victoria and Feli are engrossed in a flamboyant conversation)

ABDUL: "Hey, Oscar."

OSCAR: "Hey."

ABDUL: "Victoria your date?"

OSCAR: "Yep. Who's yours?"

ABDUL: "I'm just here with the boys. Well. They kind of made me go with Elsie."

OSCAR: "Have you danced yet?"

ABDUL: "God, no. She's not much of a dancer. Apparently she's more of a rider."

OSCAR: "She does softball, not horseback riding."

(...)

OSCAR: "Oh. Okay. I see. So... have you ridden yet?"

...

[Gym, Atenamal Regional High, 8:29 PM, Be]

VICTORIA: "Do you want to dance?"

OSCAR: "Only if you want to."

VICTORIA: (shakes her head) "Let's just sit for a while."

OSCAR: "Sure."

VICTORIA: "What do you think of Feli?"

OSCAR: "I think she's pretty."

VICTORIA: "Would you date her? She kind of likes you."

OSCAR: "I'm... I'm with you right now."

VICTORIA: "Yeah, but we're not dating."

OSCAR: "Oh. Right."

VICTORIA: "Did you think we were?"

OSCAR: (quickly) "No."

VICTORIA: "So Feli?"

OSCAR: "No."

VICTORIA: "What about Raymond? Do you think he's handsome?"

OSCAR: "Not... really."

VICTORIA: "Really? I think he has a good face. I heard he doesn't have that great of a body though. I think the two hottest people in our grade are Fender and Jakob."

OSCAR: "Okay. Cool."

VICTORIA: "Right, though? Where is Fender, anyways? I want to see him in a suit."

OSCAR: "He's not here."

VICTORIA: "Why? Because of the whole rape thing? That wouldn't stop me from going. Have you ever seen Fender naked?"
