Chapter 9: This Is Not Goodbye

"Okay Y/N, truth or dare?" Teresa asks me, "dare obviously!" I say happily. "I dare you to kiss Minho for a minute!" She says, I feel my face turn red but then Minho pulls me into a passionate kiss. He soon starts to use tongue, and then I hear Teresa yell, "okay minute's over!" We pull away and Minho gives me a smirk, I look and then see Newt is gone. I give Teresa a look and she points towards the deadheads. I grab a lantern and walk off into the deadheads. As I get deeper into the forest I can hear faint cries, but as I walk further they get louder. I soon come across a big tree and behind it is Newt. His face buried into his knees crying, I put down my lantern and pull him into a hug. I pull his head out of his knees and stare at his crying eyes, so I smash my lips onto his. I pull away and say, "Newt I'm sorry, I didn't think this was going to happen. I don't like Minho, I like you Newt!" I see his eyes change to have hope in them, "I like you too Y/N." He says before pulling me into this kiss again.

Half-way into gardening with Newt I decide to ask him, "Newt what are we?" I ask, he looks up to me. "Y/N...I---I" but before he can say more the sounds of Thomas and Minho screaming "RUN!" Fill the air, I run over to Newts side getting a better view. Thomas and Minho come running in from the maze and a horrible shriek follows behind them, I see Newt's eyes fill with horror. He grabs my hand and takes me off into the forest.

After Thomas and Minho had gotten locked up I head towards the kitchen to grab my dinner, and head towards our normal table. Which has less people. I sit across from Teresa as Chuck sits beside her, Newt soon joins us and I can he's sad about his friends getting locked up in the slammer for two days. "Hey, it's gonna be okay." I say rubbing his back, he turns to me and smiles. And without warning he pulls me into a kiss, after he pulls away he grabs my hand, "come on. I need to talk to you." He says. We soon end up in the dead heads, and he leans against a tree as he stares at me. "Y/N...I don't know how to say this but. The minute I locked eyes on you in the box I just had this feeling, like, she's the one. And ever since then I've loved you, and every day I love you even more. So will you please, be my girlfriend." He says, I stare at him with a blank expression. "Y/N....was this not a good time?" He asks, but before he can say anything else I pull him into a kiss, he was surprised but began to kiss back. When we pull away he says, "so was that a yes?" I nod and pull him into another kiss.

Today was hotter than usual, but once Frypan called for lunch I ran over there. But I slowed down when I didn't see Newt, I looked back to see him slowly walk behind, slower than usual. I walk up to him and see he's covered in sweat, I grab his hand and say, "come on lets let you rest." I say leading him to our normal table, I sit him down there as I get our food. Once back at our table he still look just as bad, I begin eating but half-way into lunch I see that Newt still hasn't touched his food. I feel his head, "Oh my gosh! Newt your burning up!" I say, I get up and say, "come on lets take you to the med-jack hut." But the minute he gets up he falls to the floor, lifeless.

Before I know it every memory I have of Newt comes rushing through my mind, I can't leave him. And as I slowly begin to gain my conscious again I see Newt trying to put a knife through Thomas' chest. I feel my head and see blood all over my hand.

"NEWT!" I yell, Newt's attention goes to me and I can see him calm down. "Newt, please don't." I say as tears begin to form in my eyes again. Newt then gets off of Thomas and heads towards me, "Newt...." I say, but suddenly he tackles me to the ground trying to kill me. "NEWT PLEASE! NEWT STOP!" I yell but it's no use, "NEWT PLEASE! I LOVE YOU!" I yell, and he stops staring at me. I can see his eyes clear but then he's pulled off of me by Thomas. And right at my legs I feel Newts teeth sink into my skin. I scream out in agony and I begin to lose blood fast.

I can't move, so I'm forced to watch the fight. I can't help. Newt swings his knife at Thomas and once close enough Thomas grabs the knife but Newt blocks my view of what happened. But then I realize.

It's gone silent, Thomas stares at Newt with a sad expression. And Newt falls to the ground lifeless, "NO!" I scream I try to stand up but it's still no use. I crawl over to Newt's lifeless body and see a single tear fall from his face as his soul leaves his body. "No Newt. No you can't leave me!" I yell, "don't you remember? This is not goodbye! Please Newt. I love you." I stare into his cold eyes, and from the blood rushing out of my head and out of my leg. I black out right on Newt's dead body.

A/N: I'm sorry guys. I cried making this chapter, I really am sorry. But just like Newt said in this chapter. "This is not goodbye." And if your confused with what's when italics, then that's just a few loving moments in my first book with this series. There was more but I didn't want to keep this chapter going on forever. So yeah, I'M SORRY! But blame James Dashner.
