Chapter 9: This Is Not Goodbye

"Gally, Minho. You guys need to get the serum and meet us." Thomas says still staring at Newt, "go Minho go" Thomas says looking to Minho now. "He's right, I can come." Gally says before getting up, Newt then puts his hand on Minho's shoulder. "Thank you Minho, thank you." Newt says with heavy breaths.

Minho leans in, "just hang in there. Okay?" Minho says before running off with Gally, Thomas looks over the railing behind us as Newt.....his breaths become quicker....he's changing.

"Newt. Newt stay with me!" I say grabbing his shoulders, he luckily dozes out of it. "Okay Newt we have to go" I say trying to get him up. "No" he says trying to get something out of his pocket. But that doesn't stop me, "no Newt we have to go!" I yell, "No, won't you take this! WON'T YOU TAKE IT!" He yells getting mad.

I stop as he holds up a small object in his hand, I take it and as if he was grasping one last touch on sanity. "Please Y/N, please."

I take the object from his seeing it's a necklace so I quickly put it on and hold his hand as tight as I can, never wanting to let go. "This is not goodbye." He says as I begin to cry, "okay we need to go. Y/N help me." Thomas says putting one of Newt's arms over his shoulders as I do the same.

We walk through the streets and into a stranded area, away from the chaos. But Newt begins to slip out of me and Thomas' grips falling to the ground, "Newt. No stay with me!" I say shaking him as he falls to the ground, but it was like time froze.

And a voice echoed throughout the city. Teresa. 

"Thomas. Can you hear me?" She begins, "I need you to listen to me. I know you have no reason to trust me, but I need you to come back. Thomas, you can save Newt, there's still time for him. There's a reason Brenda isn't sick anymore, it's your blood, do you understand? She isn't sick because, you cured her. She doesn't have to be the only one, all you have to do is come back and this will all finally be over. Please, just come back to me. I know you'll do the ri---" but before Teresa can finish the power shuts off.

Emergency lights soon turn on, I walk up to Thomas still with tears in my eyes. "Thomas, it's our only choice." I say putting a hand on his shoulder, but then I hear a grunt. We both turn to see Newt has gotten up, "Newt?" Thomas says, Newt slowly turns to reveal he's gone full crank.

"Newt....." I say crying hard again, but before we could do anything Newt charges at Thomas. Hitting me in the process, making me hit the ground. And everything goes black.

The sound of metal against metal fills the air, lights start to flash around me and above me red lights are coming closer and closer. Whatever I'm in begins to go faster, I get knocked into a corner and I take in my surroundings. I seem to be in some sort of cage with boxes and another girl, Teresa. And suddenly, it comes to a stop. The top of it opens up revealing a bright light with tons of people around it, someone jumps in and I'm able to get a look. He has short brown hair with brown eyes. And then he calls for someone by the name of Newt...Newt. Another boy then jumps down, his beautiful brown eyes immediately trailing to me. "What's your name sweetheart?" He asks, but I don't answer. Too scared to.

I sit on the tree branch with Teresa watching the boys get drunk around the fire, I look down and see Newt and Thomas heading towards us. "Dude Teresa is so hot!" We hear Thomas say drunk, "No. Y/N is way hotter than Teresa!" Drunk Newt says back, I smile at what he says when I hear Teresa say "shit" I look to her and then follow her eyes to where she's looking. The branch was breaking, "shit" I repeat after her. And before I know it the branch breaks making me and Teresa both fall. I scream like I'm being murdered until I hit the ground, luckily I'm not dead. I then realize I landed on Newt, I can feel my face burn red with embarrassment. But before I get off he pulls me into a kiss, I can taste the drink that was making him drunk.
