'Bro, don't even get me started.'

Shu rolled his eyes and walked away. 'Oh brother.'

---------------

I watched, leaning against the fence on the rooftop with Daigo. Shu was praciticing his left-hand launch, and Valt and Honcho were spread out all around us, arms and legs spread wide to stop any intruders, eyes gazing side to side for anything out of place.

'Analysis complete,' a robotic voice said. 'I've observed a sharp increase in Valt Aoi's protective behaviour towards Shu Kurenai.'

'Who's there?!' I yelled out, jumping from my previous spot, and getting into a fighting stance.

'Huh? Nobody's there (y/n),' Valt said. 'They need to go through us!'

'I know but...' I trailed off. 'But I thought I heard a robotice voice. I know it sounds crazy, but they said something about an analysis, observing sharp increases in Valt's protective behaviours towards Shu Kurenai.'

There was silence.

'Are you sure this wasn't in your head, (y/n)?' Daigo asked.

'I-I'm not sure,' I admitted, my voice faltering. 'I think it was...never mind guys.'

We went back to doing what we were doing before, but I couldn't shake a niggling feeling that it wasn't in my head.....

--------------

'Guess what time it is? It's bey o'clock!'

I walked into the arena, making my way to the Bey Club and sitting with them after I had won my battle.

'Who's battling?' I asked, sitting down next to Nika and Valt. Rose petals fell on my head. 'What is th-? Oh.....Zac.'

Onstage, Zac had won, standing in the spotlight holding a rose, petals exploding everywhere.

'Guess what?' Nika said excitedly. 'Zac just won with two burst finishes, back to back! How cool is he?'

'Not very,' muttered Daigo quietly, so Nika couldn't here.

'Shu's up next right?' I asked them.

Everyone nodded.

'Okay! It's been a wild emotion coaster ride, but it's finally time to meet our last competitors of the day!' Hanami announced. 'In the red corner, the National Tournament runner up, Shu Kurenai! And in the blue corner, wrapped in a ghostly veil of mystery, it's Jin Aizawa!'

The crowd cheered and clapped as both bladers stepped out of the smoke, walking down to the stadium.

'The first battle!'

Both bladers took their stances. I bit my lip. Shu had to win this.

'Ready? Set! 3 2 1! Let it rip!'

Both beys spun circles around the stadium, each one moving strongly and swiftly.

'Go for an Upper Launch!' Shu commanded. Spryzen swung back around and charged towards Jormuntor, knocking it off the ground.

'Sweet!' I yelled. 'Finish it off!'

But Jormuntor wasn't like any other beys I had seen. I gasped as Jormuntor recovered. I'm guessing the performance tip allowed it to recover and go back on track. Jormuntor started spinning even faster, like the hit never happened at all.

'No way!'

'You llok like you've seen a ghost,' Jin grinned at Shu. 'Afraid of my Zombie Launch?'

Jormuntor took the center.

'Not over yet!' shouted Shu. 'Upper Launch, again!'

Spryzen came in hot, but the ending resulted the same. Upper Launch failed, each time Jormuuntor recovered quickly.

'Nobody's ever withstood his Upper Launch for this long!' I gasped.

'Spryzen!' Shu shouted.

'It's gearing up for another strike!' Hanami announced. 'Will this be the final blow?'

'You can try all you want,' Jin smiled. 'But you'll never - huh?'

Jormuntor bursted, thrown up in three different pieces in the air.

'Two points to Spryzen with a burst finish! Two-to-nil!'
