"I think I'm finally getting a break Alex!" Jiwon announced as soon as he arrived at the cafe and rushed to their table.

"Slow down, last time you slipped and made like, five coffee cups spill on you." Jiwon's closest (and only...) friend, Alex reminded him of his painful past. "Also, what do you mean by a break?"

Jiwon plopped down into a seat, carefully sipping his drink before answering. "This morning, I actually woke up on time! And I didn't burn my breakfast and have to eat instant ramen! I didn't step in any poop, nor did anything nasty fall on me! I wore my favorite clothes and so far, nothing has happened to them! In fact, they're as clean as ever!"

"So... does that mean...?" Alex was actually pleasantly surprised for once.

"Yeah! My curse is gone!" Jiwon grinned. "It may just be for today, but I am sure as heck going to enjoy it! I'm going to eat hot foods! I'm going to go out with an umbrella! I'm going to pet a dog! Ah, so many things to do!"

His friend stared at him for a moment. "You really couldn't do those things before...?"

Jiwon shook his head, and got up with a determined look. "C'mon, let's start on my list!"

"You have a list?"

"Please, I've always had a list," Jiwon scoffed, pulling out a small notebook from his pocket. "I made it for when this day came!"

Alex took the worn, dog eared book and flipped through it, his expression changing to one of pity. "Man, your life was sad."

"Hush child, I know."

---------

Chae Jiwon is a Korean child born and raised in America. He had lived a decent and comfortable life, right up until he turned fourteen. From there, his life was rather... unfortunate.

The neighbors knew of him, and understood about his "curse", even if they did not believe in supernatural things. It was hard to not believe when seeing him being chased by multiple, strange animals in the morning was a normal occasion.

So, even if they did not know him closely, they knew his name and his "curse".

People who knew him closely, aka Alex and his family, knew that Jiwon's biggest wish was to live a simple, comfortable life where he did not have to do much. Of course, he got the very opposite of that. It was as if someone with greater power had a grudge against him, and was getting revenge.

Right now, the silly, simple child was running around everywhere like a Chihuahua on a sugar high, dragging the worn out and tired Alex.

At this specific moment, he was in a pet store, petting dogs and some other animals.

"Ohmygoditssofluffy-" Jiwon mumbled and he stuck his face into the poor, confused dog's back. He was surrounded by many animals, because for some reason, the employees actually complied to his strange wish.

Alex was sitting in the midst as well, black lines going down his face. "Are you satisfied yet? I'm pretty sure the animals should go back in their cages now."

Jiwon pouted, but sadly agreed. "Fine..." The two helped the employees herd the animals back to their little holding areas and cages.

"Whats next?" Alex sighed, hoping that the next thing on the list wasn't tiring.

"I want to go to the park and cross multiple roads without fearing for my life!" The simple child exclaimed his strange request.

"...." Well, at least it was simple.

They made their way to the park, Jiwon excitedly crossing the roads. The two made quite a pair, as Jiwon looked like a child on his way to Disneyland while Alex looked like the tired mother having to deal with her hyper kid.

Has it been pointed out that both of them are 21-22 years old? No? Well now you know.

They were about a block away from the park when Jiwon finally relaxed his hand that was in a death grip around Alex's arm and stepped foward a bit cautiously. "I wanna try crossing the street by myself!"

Alex marveled at the sight and sounds of a twenty one year old man acting like a child learning a new skill.

"Sure, sure. Go ahead." The exhausted friend waved his hand and yawned. What time was it? God, just looking at this simple child so excited made him tired.

Jiwon waited for the sign to switch to walk, and stepped foward with the others. He hoped that tomorrow his newfound freedom would still be here.

As he was thinking this and was walking across the street, the simple child was hit by a speeding car.

"아, 씨발-"
