'Beep! Beep! Beep!' sounded the alarm and I had to wake to the annoying beeping sound. Today is my first day of college; eight years after that terrible incident of mum's death and eight years since my dad-
"Charlie!"
His voice made me to stop wallowing in my misery. Ever since that incident happened, dad had been so buried in work. He hardly has time for me. Mum's death really affected him and he doesn't talk much.
As I continued my internal thoughts, his voice bellowed again.
"Charlie, its time for breakfast and you're gonna make me late"
"I'm coming"
Breakfast was the only thing we did together whenever he was around which was hardly because of his business trips. Personally, I just feel he works too hard to keep his mind occupied. Dad became a nervous wreck after mum died. Several times I have heard his cries at night when he thought I was sleeping.
In the early weeks of her death he would come to my room telling me how I look so much like my mum. He stopped eating well after her death and he has slimed down so much. He refused to move out of the house that mum died in, I don't know the reason but I'm happy, I love living in the house because it reminds me of mum.
I took my bath hurriedly and dressed up in a grey crop top, my ripped jeans and my brown vans and paired it up with my playboy black earrings and a necklace.
I did a little makeup which consisted of a light pink bubblegum lip gloss and mascara and put my hair up in a ponytail. Satisfied with my looks in the mirror, I grabbed my backpack and raced downstairs for breakfast with my dad.
After breakfast of pancakes, bacon, eggs and milk prepared by our cook; Carmen, I dashed off to school in my black mustang. In case you haven't noticed by now, my dad is very rich and although he's hardly around, he still provides for my needs.
I got to school, packed in the parking lot and focused on getting to class.
"Ouch" my head collided with a girl as my backpack fell and her books landed with a thud on the floor.
"I'm so sorry" I started and assisted her to pick her books
"Its OK, I'm Emily but you can just call me Em"
Wow, she's so friendly. I never had friends again after mum died. I didn't talk to anybody for a whole month after her burial; I guess I was just in shock from the whole thing.
I looked up to study her well. She had long strawberry blonde hair that flowed to her shoulders, she had cute light grey eyes. She was almost the same height with me which was a 5'4.
She is so beautiful.
"Thank you so much, you are too"
"Did I really say that loud?" I asked already going red from embarrassment.
"Yes you did and I totally love your hair" she said trying to make me feel comfortable
"Thanks"
No one save my dad calls me beautiful because I didn't associate much with people.
I took my looks from my mum. My mum was Asian; so I had long black hair getting to my waist and I also had a naturally tanned skin courtesy of my mum too. I took my blue eyes from my dad and that's that.
"Can I get your name?" she continued talking
"Umm yes, I'm Charlotte but you can call me Char or Charlie" I replied politely
" I think Char will be preferable, can we go for our classes now?"
I totally forgot about school just chatting with her. I could tell that we would be great friends. Em and I had all our classes together and I really enjoyed her company.
As the days  passed, we became inseparable. She met my dad on several occasions. He was surprised initially due to the fact that I don't talk to people. He liked her and even supported our friendship. We did almost everything together. She was the one good thing in my life apart from my dad and I wasn't planning on letting her go soon.
