Seeing the Unseen Chapter Six:

"Fall"

The sky was a gentle blue, a gentle breeze combing its way through my hair. Shakily, I held a hesitant arm out, feeling the wind blow through my fingers, turning my hand to better get a feel, to better understand the sensations that were coursing through my veins as my dominant hand grasped tightly on Mason's shirt as he focused on keeping me afloat, the silence between us familiar, as if we had known each other our whole lives. Closing my eyes, I began to walk, the green eyed male following suit. Each step felt solid, yet soft, like how one would dream a cloud would feel, but as I had already combed hand through a stratus cloud, I knew that the feeling was one closer to walking on a ground of pillows, yet solid enough to the fact that you weren't afraid of sinking.

"Are you scared?" Mason asked, moving his hand so that my hand was encased in his rather than gently yanking on the fabric of his top.

I shook my head, throwing my head back to feel the chill on my face, smiling at the brunet. "No. I feel alive."

"Alive? Aren't you always alive?"

I laughed. "I guess it's a weird saying, huh? I feel good, my senses are on high alert, yet I feel... calm..."

Mason didn't seem to comprehend my words, yet he nodded anyway. "I feel the same. It's just a little more taxing making sure you stay afloat, but not overly so."

I sighed. "I'm sorry. I won't ask you too often, I promise..." I looked down at the town. We were so far up, it was almost surreal. "Mason, if I fall, will you be able to catch me?"

His grip tightened on my hand, "Why would you fall?"

Humming, I squeezed his hand back, my eyes glued to the ground that was seemingly miles down. "Would you catch me?"

"Yes."

"That's all I needed to hear."

Breaking free of Mason's grip, I closed my eyes, free falling towards who knows where, a victim to gravity. It felt amazing, my heart pounding, my muscles tensing, my brain screaming at me to grab onto something, but I ignored all of it, believing that Mason would catch me when the time was right.

I felt arms wrap around me and I smiled up into green eyes, a smile making its way onto my features. "Hello, Mason."

Mason adjusted us so that I was once again standing on air with him. "Hello, Beatrice. Did you have fun?"

I nodded eagerly. "Yes, yes I did."

"That's good." Mason's tone seemed to be one of amusement. "You sure are a lot to swallow, Beatrice."

I laughed as a bird flew past, looking up to see an airplane zoom by high overhead, "It's beautiful."

Mason nodded as a colorful looking bird landed on my head, its feathers seemingly translucent. "It's a shame that only some can see it."
