Chapter Six

Chapter Six

   "Liam?" I shouted, but only the owls replied.

    My heart started pounding against my rib cage like Godzilla was pounding on my chest.

   My knees went weak as tears blurred my vision. This couldn't happen to me again. I couldn't take another person leaving me.

   "Liam!" I yelled a little louder, but only the same depressing silence from before returned.

   Fighting the tears felt hopeless. I was full on bawling. There was a nasty pang in my chest that wasn't going away any time soon. It was my fault. If only I didn't want to race in the damn woods.

  "Cher!" Liam screeched from everywhere but nowhere. His voice sounded full of horror.

   "L-Liam? Where are y-you?" I stuttered from sobbing a bit.

   "I don't know. Cher! Please help me!"

  His pain was like knives cutting onto my bare skin. It killed me inside to hear him like this.

   I started running forwards, dodging all the branches and other things. It sounded like he was coming from this way.

    "Cher! Please!" Liam sobbed, but now his voice sounded like it was coming from my left.

   "I'll get you, Liam! I swear!" I croaked, saying more confident than I felt.

   "Hurry! Its coming!" He shouted again, but his voice now coming from my right.

   I had no idea where to run.

   "Liam! Stop moving!" I instructed.

   No reply.

   "Liam! Answer me!"

    Dead silence.

    I fell onto prickly dirt feeling disgusted. Twigs and other things stabbed the side of my face making it bleed, but that was the least of my problems. My heart felt hollow. I felt like my soul was ripped out of my very own body. I could've helped him. But I didn't. Horrible images flashed my mind. He was most likely dead. Dead. That word made me want to blow my brains out. Liam. Dead.

   I let out a horrible, ear wincing, scream. A scream that could make anything cringe.

   "Cher? Cher! Wake up."

   I stopped screaming and put my full attention onto the voice.

   "What?"

   "Wake up!"
