Clint's POV

I crouched on a balcony across from Goode High School. The strange signals that Tony had been tracking for the last few months had popped up again, here. They were considerably weaker, but Tony had convinced me and Natasha to scope it out anyway - she was sitting in a car on the road just out side the school, keeping an eye out for anything unusual.

"Clint," Natasha whispered through her comms. "Yeah?" I replied, immediately on high alert, assuming that she had spotted something. "There's a guy on the hood of the blue truck near me who looks like he's waiting for someone. And while that's not out of the ordinary, the pen he's throwing back and forth between his hands makes me feel like we're not the only one on lookout here."

I peered down to the car she had described and indeed, the teen perched on the car did look on high alert, his eye's flicking from side to side in perfect synchronisation with the pen that he held. As I was about to agree with Natasha's concerns, I saw the boy slip off of the car, and walk towards the entrance, a look of determination on his face. "Let's see how this pans out first 'tash, I don't think Fury would appreciate it if we took out a civilian." As I finished my sentence, I saw a visible difference in the teen, whose shoulder's dropped as the tension that had been there left his body. Looking forward to where his line of sight was I saw a girl, roughly the same age, exit the school, covered in what must've been glitter. "Something about this doesn't seem quite right Clint. The tracker that Tony gave me ... well the signal is even weaker now, and it just left the building. I'm going to see if I can get a little closer, to hear what they're saying. If I lose them, you'll have to be the one that follows them, and I'll come after you, with the car."

Before I could agree I saw Natasha climb out of her car, and saunter down the street towards the two teens. They looked a lot more relaxed now that they were in each others company, with the boys arm slung around the girls shoulders - presumably the guy had just been waiting for his girlfriend to get out of class. However something about this situation still felt a little odd, and I couldn't shake the feeling that I'd missed something. Whilst I was mentally debating the teen's involvement in our mission I had barely noticed Natasha getting within ear shot of the teens, and was shocked by the sudden sounds coming through my comms. I couldn't understand what was being said - I wasn't that great with other languages, Natasha was the one with that skill. However when I looked through the balcony's bars I saw a similar look of confusion on Natasha's face. I wasn't used to seeing that look - there weren't many languages that Natasha didn't speak, but thank fully at that moment the girl switched to English.

"You're such an idiot, Seaweed Brain. I'll race you back to yours though. GO."

Seaweed Brain? that was an unusual nickname. Before I had the time to dwell on that thought, both the girl and the boy were running down the street skilfully avoiding the other pedestrians, a look of joy on their faces. I quickly ascended the building I was on, and began the tiring task of roof jumping, following the route the teens took as closely as I could. It wasn't long before I heard Natasha pant into the comms that she wouldn't be able to follow on foot any longer without causing suspicion, and that she'd head back for the car. I grunted into my comms to show that I'd heard, feeling the same fatigue that seemed to have no effect on the youths racing through a park beneath me. At one moment I was worried when I saw an unsuspecting mother push her child in its stroller out in front of the sprinting girl, but much to my surprise she was able to fling herself off the path into a bush, the mother not even registering the potential danger she had been in. The boy sprinted past moment's later a grin on his face, seemingly unworried about his girlfriend who I could see was slowly making her way back up to the path. Soon the girl was heading off again, and I followed as closely as I could barking out the directions to Natasha who had caught up in the car - a miracle considering New York traffic.

When I saw what building that the teens had entered  - the doorman barely batting an eyelid, suggesting that this was a regular occurrence - I manoeuvred myself to the roof of a building directly behind it, with a clear line of sight into each apartment. "Natasha," I quietly spoke into my comms. "I have a line of sight on all the apartments in this building, but I'm going to need you to follow them up, and plant a bug under their apartment door, so that we can hear them." She replied "Okay," still slightly out of breath. Minutes later I heard a quick intake of breath and then the muffled conversation between the kids we had been following.  "You little cheat, Percy. I could've been hurt when I had to jump off that path, but you just kept running. You just wanted to win" I agreed with the girl's words, he had seemed determined to win, but the joking tone under her words suggested that she wasn't holding a grudge. For that race to be fun for them they must have an amazing level of fitness - both Natasha and I had struggled to keep up with them, and we were highly trained agents. "My Wise Girl getting hurt by a little jump? Not likely, She's too smart for that." Percy countered.

Wise Girl? The nicknames they had for each other were cute, but they were creating several questions. I still didn't know the girl's real name and although Tony would probably be able to find her when we reported back, I didn't like not knowing who we were trailing. "They've just entered an apartment on the seventh floor," Natasha whispered into her comms unit. "I'm slipping the bug under the door now." Now that I knew what floor the apartment was on I was able to locate the room they were in as I tuned into the frequency of the listening device. I had worked with Natasha long enough to know that she would be heading down to my building, and work her way up to meet me on the roof, so I was able to concentrate fully on what the teens were doing. Percy seemed to have headed immediately for the couch, whilst Annabeth had her back to the window setting out school supplies on the kitchen table.

"Percy!" She called, having finally turned around to see her boyfriend lying on the couch, eyes closed, munching on what looked like a blue cookie? Despite the grin on her face, her next words had the tone of an order. " We both need to study for finals, so get your butt to the table." Her boyfriend didn't move - I didn't blame him, the idea of studying after school seemed horrible to me too. If I hadn't been watching closely I would've missed what happened next. She darted forwards and yanked at the elbow and knee the furthest away from her, quickly jumping out of the way of Percy's falling body. He hit the floor with a slight thump and the girl immediately headed back to the table, unpacking his textbooks too. Less than a minute later the boy stood up still eating his cookie, and headed slowly to the table.

As he turned to sit down at the table he glanced directly at me. Despite the fact that I should have been too far away to be seen clearly by the human eye, the look of shock on his face suggested that I must be wrong. Keeping as still as possible I watched the boy, waiting for him to look away, so that I could duck out of sight - hopefully he would think he had hallucinated me. "Percy?" the girl asked a look of worry on her face. I did my best to stifle my laughter - after dumping her boyfriend to the floor, with no remorse, she was really worried about him. "What's wrong?" she asked. Percy finally turned his head to face his girlfriend, and I took the opportunity to vault behind the nearest wall. I couldn't risk being seen again, so I would have to rely on my hearing for the rest of this conversation. "I'm not too sure. I thought I saw a guy on the roof to our South West, but," There was a slight pause here, presumably as Percy searched for me out the window. "I can't see him anymore. Maybe I'm seeing things - I've not been getting enough sleep recently. Anyway, should we look at Math first? I have that test next week."

At that moment Natasha crept onto the roof, and joined me behind the concrete wall. We both tuned out the explanation of simultaneous equations that the girl was giving. "The signal followed them all the way home, getting weaker and weaker," Natasha said, biting her lip. "Something is going on with them and we need to find out what."

Ive written two chapters today now and it is definitely because I have a coursework draft that im like 3 days overdue sending in. Oh well, I'll send it in soon, probably.(I need to finish it first)
