Just friends

"Hi"

I look up and see Darcy stood at my door holing a bunch of flowers and a small box.

"Hi" I whisper, I knew he was coming but im still surprised to see him. I had only just called him so didn't expect him to be here so soon.

"Congratulations" he kisses my cheek and follows me up to my apartment.

I beam at him, I gesture for him to enter as I greet an excited Butch.

"I need to have shower and get changed, where are you planning to go"  I have no idea what to wear so I need him to tell me.

"I have a party to attend, I thought we could go together"

"A party, is it formal"

Darcy smiles "my friend is opening a restaurant , it semi formal"

Darcy hands me the gifts and waits for me to open the box. I place the flowers in water then turn my attention to the small box. I hold my breath as I see a pair of diamond earrings stating up at me.

"Please tell me these are fake"

"If that's what you want to hear" Darcy says with a shrug.

I try to refuse the gift but he jut says if I don't take them he will just throw them in the garbage. I can't let him to do that so I have to take them.

I leave Darcy in-front if the tv with a glass of wine.

I hurry to the bathroom and shower, I don't think I've ever moved so quickly. I'm careful not to wet my hair as it's still in great shape. I slip on a black thong and decide not to wear a bra. I pull the silver dress over my head and slip on my black heels.

Darcy makes a huge deal out of me as I walk out. His eyes almost pop from his head as he sees my cleavage. I wear the new earrings too, they make me feel so good.

Darcy tells me he had walked Butch so we can head straight out. Darcy had no trouble hailing a cab, everything about him screams wealth and sophistication.

I'm in awe when we're shown to our table, I see more than a few celebrities. I don't think I've ever been somewhere so elegant, it's truly beautiful. I'll admit it I'm star struck, I just don't want to embarrass Darcy.

I luckily don't feel too out of place, I was brought up with money so I'm use to luxury. I'm not intimidated by money.

"That's Justin Timberlake"  I say quietly as I look a him.

Darcy finds it amusing that I'm so amazed by the people who surround us, he must know many celebrities as he's not affected by them at all.

As the waiter reads out the specials I feel my mouth start to water.

"Darcy" a man calls before placing his hand on Darcys shoulder.

"Lee , Helen" he says standing, he kisses Helens cheek and shakes lees hand.

He introduces me as his friend. They ask where Elizabeth is. I knew his ex wife was called elt, surely they weren't asking over her

"Who's Elizabeth" I ask when we're once again alone.

He looks at me in confusion like I should know who she is.

"She's my wife"

"Not your ex wife"

"What's so funny" he asks.

"I thought this was a date"

"It is" he clarifies.

"I don't date married man, I'm not the other woman"

"Elizabeth and I are not monogamous, we never have been. It caused quite a scandal when society found out. It's even written into our pre nup"

I find it hard to believe and I make the fact known.

"I swear it, it's a well known fact. Elizabeth is currently with her toy boy Javier at a fundraiser"

He looks so unbothered by my surprise, he acts like their arrangement is the most normal thing. I don't know if I believe him and even if I do I'm not sure if I want to be involved. I have so much going on in my life that I can't deal with more drama.

We finish our meals in silence , I feel so awkward. I wish I had known earlier, things wouldn't feel so weird if I had.

Darcy takes me by surprise and takes my hand in his as we walk. I consider pulling it back but he pulls me to him so my chest is against his.

"I like you savannah and I think we could have fun. I get that this is unusual but I really would like to see you again"

"No I'm sorry, this is too much. We can be friends"

He looks disappointed but doesn't argue.

It's so awkward as we stand at my door. He wants to kiss as me and I want to kiss him too but I can't. I can't get over the fact that he has a wife. I'm only 21 so it's not like I'm looking for anything serious but what if I want things to go further with him, what if I get feelings there's nothing I could do about it.

"Thank you for a good night" I say kissing his cheek.

He nods stiffly before turning and leaving.  That really could have gone better
