Chapter 9

"So..." Savanna smirked as she and Steph walked into school.

"What?" Steph asked.

"You gonna mention something to him?" Savanna asked.

Steph rolled her eyes and smiled.

"I think you should." Sav stated.

"Yeah, we'll see." Stephanie replied.

When the two girls reached their lockers, they giggled together as they talked about their classes.

"Hey, girls."

"Hey, Shawn!" They replied at the same time.

Shawn laughed.

"It's good to see you." He said as he looked at Stephanie.

She blushed.

"Ahem." Savanna cleared her throat loudly.

"B- both of you! It's good to see both of you." Shawn replied not-so-smoothly.

Savanna's giggle was quickly subsided by an elbow to the rib from Steph.

"Well, I'd better head to class..." Shawn smiled.
"See you girls at lunch?"

"Sure!" They replied.

Once Shawn was out of earshot, Savanna whisper-yelled jokingly, "He loves you!"

Stephanie blushed again.

"Stop! You're not funny." She hissed as she jabbed Sav's ribcage once again.

The bell rang.

"See you at lunch, Steph!"

"See you!"

"Uhg." Savanna sighed as she found Steph in the cafeteria.

"What did I do?" Stephanie defended herself.

"Nothing. Just... math. Uhg." Sav winced.

Stephanie laughed.

"Same, girl. Let's go find Shawn!"

As the two girls reached Shawn's table, he stood up to greet them.

"Hey, girls!" He greeted each one with a hug.

"Stephanie, Savanna, meet my 'squad'." He snickered.

A tall girl with tan skin and strawberry blonde hair stood up.

"We're not your 'squad', Shawn." She rolled her eyes.
"I'm Olivia, you can call me Oli. It's nice to meet you two." She smiled.

The other two boys stood up. They were both tall, one had dark brown hair, tan skin, and light blue eyes. The other had chocolate skin, straight, jet black hair, and dark green eyes.

The first boy held out his hand for each of the girls to shake.
"I'm Griffin." His deep voice pierced the short silence.

The girls said a brief "Nice to meet you" before the dark-skinned boy stepped up.

"Nice to meet you girls. I'm Drew."
He said with a huge smile stretched across his slim face.

They all sat down. There was a brief silence as Shawn, Oli, Griffin, and Drew looked at each other.
Sav and Stephanie nervously shifted in their seats.

Shawn broke the silence.

"Could you girls meet us by the creek on 31st street this Saturday?" He asked, seriousness etched onto his face.

"I guess so... why? What time?" Savanna asked, puzzled.

He stuttered.

"We'd like to ask you about something important. Nothing bad, it's pretty cool, actually." Olivia interrupted Shawn.

"So like, just a random meeting at the creek about something 'cool'?" Steph asked.

"Pretty much." Griffin spoke up.

"I guess around 6:30 would work..." Shawn said.

Stephanie made eye contact with Savanna.

There was a pause.

"I guess." They said simultaneously.

"Great!" Shawn laughed.

The bell rang for the end of lunch.

"See you soon!" Oli said.

They all said a quick "goodbye" before heading their separate ways.
