I actually really like Peter? Like I used to really not like him that much, I just kind of thought of him as the 'spare Marauders' before but he's grown on me so much that he gets his own rant and headcanons. Because for me, in Hogwarts, I literally see him as the ultimate smol bean (My friend started me off using the ironically but it's become an annoyingly unironic now...) and I'm sick of how he's portrayed a lot

So my pet hate or just general hate because I REALLY hate this is when Peter just... isn't there with no explanation (occasionally there'll be a footnote of why he's not there because the author hates him or something but like no). Even if you don't like him or angry, don't just make him disappear. If you REALLY don't want to write about him, just make your OC or something not interact with him much but don't erase him entirely? He is crucial to the whole plot.

And I also hate how people portray him as a total arsehole when from the canon information, he seemed to be in awe of them and they're friend. I mean, they kept him around for a reason, because they liked him! Plus, if he was a disloyal arsehole, why would he become an animagus with James and Sirius? Why would they give him a nickname and keep him in their group? He was their friend, there's no denying it and that's also what makes the betrayal sting even more.

If he was just some arsehole, he would a) have been kicked out long ago, I refuse to believe Sirius would put up with that negativity and b) everyone would expect his betrayal (Like when Snape killed Dumbledore, I was like 'Eh, sounds like something Snape would do' which nobody thought when Peter betrayed the Potters).

Also, he's sometimes portrayed as cowardly which is again annoying because he was a Gryffindor. He betrayed them but we never see the circumstances leading up to it, for all we know he was subject to months of mental torture and threats before finally giving him. Voldemort was talented at legilimency, he could probably play to all his weaknesses and for all we know he made false promises to Peter too, as he did with Snape. It's easy enough to accuse him of being a coward, but he's probably the most realistic character in the sense that he couldn't always be brave.

It also bugs me how he's not portrayed as chubby a lot of the time. Peter was canonically fat, there was nothing wrong with that and Jamie Bell Evans Peters, Michael Cera etc. just aren't fat. I prefer Jeremy Dozier or Peter Wietgratz (Although there are no gifs DAMN IT!) as his fancast. And Jeremy Dozier is an adorable Peter (tragically not even gifs either but there are videos so I'll probably make some more because he needs them!)

Anyway, enough with the rant because I can only rant for so long, I thought I'd share some of my favourite HCs about Wormy because I want to:

► Like I imagine him being really pure? Like he'd take everything at face value, if anyone made a dick joke, he would just look really confused until the person was forced to explain it

"Wormy, you know we're talking about dicks right?"

"What the hell? I was talking about chickens, how could you do this to me!

► He was the one who came up with the idea to become Animagus. Like he was saying how he wished they could all keep Remus company and then James and Sirius kind of realised they could and it was a team effort

► Him and Sirius would have had a special relationship. Like I feel like he would have been the butt of a lot of Sirius's jokes but at the same time, if anyone insulted him, he would have been the first one to defend him

► Was always insecure about being pushed out of the Marauders and would act sort of jealous and frantic about it. Like if Remus started hanging out with the cute new beater, Peter would instantly jump in there like

"I don't know, he looks like his animagus is a toad or something, Messr Froglegs is not a great name."

► He always stayed up until James and Sirius had returned from their late night frolics and if they were late back he would say nothing but just look at them like

► For some reason, I really love the idea that he was asexual. Like whenever he dated, he would always plan the perfect dates and things and even the most heartless people had to admit it was kind of sweet

► He was amazing at History of Magic and Muggle studies and often wondered if he would have been better off as a muggle

► Every time Sirius broke up with someone, Peter would end up secretly trying to comfort them and convince them Sirius isn't really that much of an arsehole, he was just raised with detachment

► Was lowkey really artistic but for some reason would not draw Sirius like 'Sorry, I'm just not particularly inspired by you' with complete seriousness but Sirius took it as an insult

► Was accidentally sassy. Like he would never intentionally be sassy but would occasionally say something so blunt like Sirius would be like

"I kind of hate it when couples take on each others traits like a specific word or something"

"Eh, I don't think that will ever really be a problem for you, don't think you'd date anybody long enough."

And then just be like

When he realised what he'd said

► Couldn't bake except for one thing which he did really well and would make for Remus and Lily at 'that time of the month'

Still, I think overall it's getting a lot better and he's portrayed nicely in a lot more fanfics so #justiceforwormy is finally here! Today, me and my friend considered what life would be like as a pyromaniacs but then realised both of us were so scared of fire that we wouldn't last a second so I think I'll stick to uni - E x
